All that tells me, is that gaming standards these days, are hard to impress.

I just can't agree with MGS2, Rayden or not that game is just great. I also *heart* Rosemary.

I just can't agree with MGS2, Rayden or not that game is just great. I also *heart* Rosemary. The thing is, MGS 2 killed the franchise...well maybe not killed, but it put it into a big hole. MGS 3 didn't sell as well as hoped. And MSG 4 wasn't the system mover for the PS3 that many people thought it would be. I would say it all comes back to this game. EDIT: I know MGS 3 came out around the same time as GTA San Andreas and Halo 2, but thats really not a good excuse considering the fanbase the franchise has.

That's Raiden from MGS IV? I mean, I'd heard he was bad, but... I can never look at MGS IV Raiden the same again.

I had some friends who played the living snot out of SWG. I don't think they cared about the blizz blazz, they just wanted to play a Star Wars RPG.

Who the hell was really that excited for State of Emergency?
And how was neither True Crime, nor Enter the Matrix on this list? I saw both of these games on countless magazine covers, and both of them were garbage.

I still say Sunshine isn't that bad. A bit annoying at times, but a fun platformer nonetheless.

MGS should be higher for me
Almost never got MGS 3 because of how poor #2 was, eventually it was so cheap I gave it a chance.....Glad I did cause #4 was hella fun
But yeah, #2 was a massive disappointment

Who the hell was really that excited for State of Emergency? Yes. I seem to recall IGN in particular REALLY pimping up the game.

Yeah, I didn't even bother with MGS3 due to MGS2, so I went online and found out how the story unfolded (ironically, via GT's great "Metal Gear Retrospective" series). I did want to find out for myself how this series ended though, so I picked up MGS4.
Best decision ever. As much as MGS2 was disappointing, MGS4 is clearly one of the best games ever. EVER!

Mind you, MGS3 was amazing compared to MGS2, on par with MGS4 in my opinion I'm glad, GLAD, that Devil May Cry 2 was on that list, total disappointment

I am putting the rest of my thoughts in a spoiler tag, but since they're already being discussed I won't bother with these three parts. Sunshine was good, but not up to par. It's an example of a game being disappointing but not at all bad. If this was an original platformer then it would be considered a good start with room to build a franchise around. But since it's Mario the bar is MUCH higher. State of Emergency was just pumped through the roof since we were all still so high on GTA3 IMO. Some places even gave it awesome reviews even still. And MGS2 rocked. I thought all the confusing story stuff was awesome. Once you put the pieces together and played the other games down the line it all makes pretty good sense. It could have used some improvements, but it rocked. MGS2 is a solid (no pun intended), well put together, awesome game. But if you were to put the MGS games in order from best to worst, 2 is at the bottom by a large gap. {Spoiler}Sonic the Hedgehog needs to be WAAAAY higher than that. This was hyped to the moon. This was hyped as the "we screwed up 3D Sonic in the past, we got it right this time!!!!!" (when in reality, they really only screwed up "Shadow the Hedgehog"). Slow, buggy, DUMB storyline, just awful...this should be top 3 with ease.
In order to be disappointed you need to be impressed by something...Lair never impressed me, so it didn't disappoint.
Doom 3's graphics we're SICK when it was first announced...everyone said it was light years ahead. By the time it dropped it really wasn't anymore. The graphics gap was closed pretty quickly. Add a shooter that did nothing new at all, and...meh.
Perfect Dark Zero...man, me and my bro almost went with the 360 because of the existence of that game. We still played Perfect Dark on the N64 to death back then, so a new game had us going nuts. The only thing that saved us was the fact I didn't save up enough for a 360 by launch time.
Fable was disappointing? I guess in the case of Molyneaux promising the world and not coming through, but I kindof thought the consensus was that it was a great game. Not just good, great. Maybe that's just the crowd I hang with, I dunno.
I got some friends who LOVE the DMC series and nobody wants to even acknowledge DMC2.
Daikatana is #2?!?! I feel like #1 should be blatantly obvious and I can't think of what it could be.
Yep. Not surprised but I would have to put Sonic and Daikatana over it easy.

Driv3r should have made it. It was supposed to have been the answer to GTA3, but wasn't. After the first two enjoyable, yet technically glitchy games, the third one was NOT enjoyable and hated.

Well, to be clear, a lot of the games on the list WERE good games, like PDZ, Fable, and MGS2. MGS2 especially. It is a REALLY good game, albeit a short one(some people have speed run times of just 1 hour, and that's not counting the cutscenes, of course).
These were just disappointing games, meaning they didn't live up to the hype or potential in some way.
Like, look at my award for Most Disappointing Game of 2009, I nominated some good games like Modern Warfare 2 and Resident Evil 5. They were good, just not as good as I had hoped.

I remember being hyped for State of Emergency.
Yeah, it sucked.
It was funny that you could beat people with a severed head, but nobody likes doing escort missions. Ever. And that seems like what every other task was.
For the most part that was a solid list. Yeah, I liked MGS2 and all but I can see where people make the Raiden argument.

This isn't necessarily a list of BAD GAMES necessarily, just a list of the most disappointing.
I think it's dead on. Unquestionably the Sonic was the worst game on the list, but given Sonic's 2000s track record did you think it was going to be as good as the ones above it?
I honestly think this list is PAINFULLY accurate. I just wish the folks at GT didn't try so hard to be funny. Side note, that's why I think AVGN works so well. He plays the straight-man tot he material he has to work with and then lets that set him off as an accent to their lunacy. As opposed to the rest of the GT Crew and the nostalgia critic for that matter who seem to try too hard to make the humor/entertainment their own burden/credit.

I feel like number 1 wasn't properly justified.
It honestly wasn't that disappointing when it was released, and remember this was before WOW.
