Does it bug anybody when this gets said? It's like we all have to appreciate John Cena nowadays since it's not the "cool" thing to dislike him, anymore. Well, sorry, but I'm not in some sort of "cliq" where we're all hating Cena. I still don't like Cena after 5 years and it will stay that way, no matter how long it has been since his "hate gang" has went out of business!
I just wanted to say that.

I was okay with John Cena from 2005-2007. Now WWE seems like the movie Groundhog's Day with constantly pushing the same people.

You can dislike Cena, thats alright to me. However giving the reason 'Lolz he cant wrestle, he only has 5 m0ves!1!' to me is 'so 2005' imho, because over the years its pretty much been proven (if it wasn't already) that Cena is actually a decent wrestler.

My main problem with the Cena hate is that it doesn't seem directed at the right sources. If you don't like him, that's okay, cool, but it seems like most of the hate he gets is because of the way he's booked.
He deserved the hate he got in 2005 and 2006, I think, but he's improved a lot since then. Starting about when he won the Royal Rumble he started to win me over, personally.

I will reluctantly admit that Cena is a decent wrestler and can put on good matches when he is motivated to do so. But he has been forced down our throats for way toooooooo lonnnnggggg.

He's gotten more tolerable since the SuperMan that could never lose the title push of 05-06 ended. Still don't really care for him but least he hasn't spent much time as champ lately (of course he'll be champ again after WrestleMania, but hopefully not another SuperMan push).

I think the push he's recieved in recent years is A LOT better than a few years back when he did over come the odds pretty much every week. A lot of the criticisms that are made against him were much more relevant back then, like the 5 moves of doom and Superman push.

I actually liked Cena up until around June 2005, I think. Can't remember for sure but I think it was around then I soured on him.
Only heard good stuff about him backstage. Sure hes a great guy but thats not reallly relevant to my onscreen view of him. It's a mix of 2 things as to why I dont like him on screen -the way he's booked, and the fact I just find him horrendously boring and unentertaining.
He's had a small handful of matches I've truly enjoyed, mostly gimmick matches. His tLc with Edge, his Last Man Standing with Umaga, His Last Man Standing with Khali, ONS2 against RVD (more for RVD's title win than the match), and the Mania matches with HBK & HHH. Other than that there's none I recall.
Not seen the I Quit matches, nor the HIAC, nor the Orton Ironman match.
I find his promos dull & contrived to annoying and painful. I just can't enjoy him onscreen. I wish I could as he's clearly the focal point of WWE so it'd make me enjoy the product more but...I don't. For me his & Batista's insertion to the Hart/McMahon storyline kills my interest. Ive been looking forward to Bret's return for ages and anticipating this angle, and the fact its now weighted on Cena/Batista for the title has killed most of my interest as I have no desire to see either wrestle each other again.

I certainly was never a big fan of Cena, but I'll admit he really isn't worthy of the titanic levels of hate from a few years ago. There's a greater diversity of talent in the main events these days, and Cena himself seems to have improved his skills.

Well, the theory worked for Triple H. A good chunk of the smarks that used to hate him when he first got married to Steph and such now love him, even though just about nothing has changed. Until he stops boring me during his matches, I'll always dislike Triple H, whether its cool to or not.
But I've always liked Cena. Go fig.

Only heard good stuff about him backstage. I've heard a few people complain about him in shoot interviews, but Sabu's the only one I can remember at the moment. He said Cena was afraid of taking bumps, and would basically whine to Vince and get people into trouble.

Never hated the guy, but was mostly indifferent to him. Personally, the hate he received in 2005-2006 I can agree with, like if he was unbeatable. I have Wrestlemania 22 and notice the heat he received from the crowd in the main event. It was even the same way the following night on RAW! I have nothing against him, as I respect him.

I find Cena's character poorly written because I'm not interested in a 1980s-style superhero as the top babyface. That character leads him to have the matches he does, where he gets the crap kicked out of him for a long time and sells it, but then he comes back and stops selling and usually is done selling anything by match's end. It's a character thing. But I also respect the fact that Cena has very good chemistry with just about anyone. I definitely think that he will have a better match with Batista than we'd get if it was, say, Batista vs. Triple H. Cena 2009 is better than 1994 Luger and maybe about on par with 1995 British Bulldog as far as my interest in powerhouse faces goes.

First I've heard of that (Other than something from Kennedy a while back but he's hardly Mr Reliable Source...). I have a Sabu shoto somewhere, nto sure if its before or after WWE. Not sure if I've seen it all the way through, I might rewatch it and see if he mentions this. ....Source!

If I can't see him, how can I hate him? ummm..... anyways..... on a more serious note, I still hate him. I still hate him, no matter what. Doesn't matter if it's 2010 or 2005. What he did back then has forever turned me off from liking him. That will never ever change. I can't forgive how he made me feel totally and 100% apathetic to mainstream wrestling for the 1st time since I started watching as a kid. Now, I just accept that he will be a part of the main event title scene, even though I disagree with it. Some people just can't understand that you don't have to dislike someone just because "oh it's what people think is cool".

I could honestly care less how much money he gives to charity, or how many babies he kisses. John Cena hasn't been entertaining to me for about 7 years now, and I flat-out hate what I am seeing on television. I feel that he is holding people down, like for instance, Sheamus. They took the belt off of him, just to run with another Cena angle. That doesn't seduce me at all, I'm probably in the majority here... but I'd much rather see Triple H vs Sheamus over the WWE title than John Cena vs Batista, a feud that didn't even NEED the title involved.
I honestly don't see what WWE does, in him. I feel that anybody could be the top seller, if they push him like they have with Cena. His wrestling skills are supbar, his promos aren't impressive, his look is outdated and he's pretty damn injury-prone too. But the worst part of this? They always make Cena look good. No matter what the circumstances is, there is always a fault in his losses, even the clean ones. If he gets beaten in a tables match, the opponent didn't throw him through it, he slipped and fell. What was the sense in saying that? Can they not just admit that Sheamus won fair and square? That annoyed me alot when that was said. It pretty much crushed Sheamus' credibility even before he gained any. That's just one example, just watch Raw. I don't even count his losses as losses anymore, because he doesn't really lose. He just gets distracted or does a mistake, making the loss look like a fluke.
You know what I read the other day? Sheamus was injured with a concussion. And as a huge Sheamus fan, I had a huge sigh of relief, not because the guy got injured but because I know the exact route they're going with, the next night on Raw. John Cena vs Sheamus - with the winner getting the Wrestlemania title shot. NO. I've been watching it long enough, to know how their storylines work. It's the same formula all the time. I'm just glad Sheamus is sitting at home instead of having his credibility crushed yet again by jobbing out to Cena.
