this will be awesome if amdrag gets regal as his mentor. you could have a face amdrag with heel regal leading to a feud or both being heel and regal becoming his manger like he has with big zeke.

I like the concept and that's a damn good roster if you watch/watched any FCW.

Its not like it will be tough enough. They all know how to wrestle. Its a stepping stone to have known guys polish off the new guys before hitting the main roster.

Okay, why does AmDrag have to go through the show when he's wrestled indies for years? Do they somehow expect us to kayfabe believe he's green?

The more I see about the idea, the more intrigued I am by it. I am going to miss ECW, but I would like to see more BTS stuff, even if it sounds more gimmicked than Tough Enough was.

i'm just interested if they are gonna kayfabe it or not.
I can imagine a wrestler telling Low-Ki or Kaval (whatever you know him by) to do something to stand out and then Low-Ki does some moves and the whoever is mentoring him like Randy Orton says "need's more headlock"

Okay, why does AmDrag have to go through the show when he's wrestled indies for years? Do they somehow expect us to kayfabe believe he's green? It's more or less about learning the WWE style of working, which is much different than the indies. Learning how to work camera shots, mannerisms and gestures, speaking, things like that. It doesn't matter if you can go 2 hours with Super Dragon, Steamboat, and Kurt Angle, if you sound like Bobby Lashley and can't have people interested in angles, nobody's gonna give a shit. Not saying Jake Long is like Lashley or Bastion Booger, but that's generally what they want for their call ups, to be ready for the big time.

This all depends on who the mentors are. If it's CM Punk, Chris Jericho and Mickie James, it's a win. If it's Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Funaki and Kelly Kelly, not so much. The Kung Fu Naki gimmick invites itself to a mentor position...

I wonder what everyone declaring Danielson is infinitely better than the FCWers and half the main roster is going to say if he fails to make an impression and gets released after the first season?

Steamboat should mentor Danielson.
That is all.

I don't see why they won't acknowledge that Danielson and Kaval have wrestled all over the world, they just don't need to name the promotions they've wrestled in. In that sense 'rookie' might be a bit of a clumsy term. But at the same time it's not kayfabe these days to say that WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the world, and so you can say they're 'rookies' in the big leagues so to speak, even if they definitely have the talent to hang at that level.
You can liken it to a standout performer in college football in his first season in the NFL would still technically be considered a 'rookie' in that league, even if they have been playing and excelling at the sport all of their life.

I'm interested. But it's hit or mis. There was talk about Kaval being a masked enemy for Rey jr. after Wrestlemania. But if NXT works with seasons and is a show to establish new names. Well you sort of lose the surprise of Kaval being a masked man feuding with Rey after WM.
Another problem is that every wrestler will get the same debut. 'They came from that show'. But at the same time in NXT they can grow a personality and Kaval will be that intense guy, Danielson the serious guy who is so good in the ring, Heath the funny looking fella etc. etc. It will be much easier to debut them on Smackdown or RAW.
It could work but only if it's something completely new and not a cheap copy of TUF or Tough Enough.

Absolute best case scenario is that this is what launches WWE back into the mainstream, with a Bryan v Kaval match doing what Griffin v Bonnar did for UFC.
What will likely happen is that pretty much everyone on this show gets a solid run before being shuffled of into tag teams/jobberdom/future endeavourhood, with one or two exceptions.
