A Way to End the Streak...Technically

I was doing some thinking and this seems to be the best way to get both desired results: a person gets the rub from beating Taker, but Taker stays perfect at Mania.

Somebody really takes Undertaker to his limit. During the course of the match, they build to a big move or move sequence that Undertaker couldn't possibly recover from. Taker is covered for a 3 count, but the referee, having respect for the Streak & reverance for Taker, doesn't count the fall right away. He looks very confused and conflicted. He gets to 2, but stops. He then goes to the announcer/timekeeper and explains the situation. The bell rings and Taker's opponent is DQ'd for "using illegal tactics" during the course of the match. Undertaker gets another one in the W column and his opponent can then go on a tirade about how he actually had Undertaker defeated, but some crackpot referee (naturally, Scott Armstrong) took it upon himself to end the match due to his feelings regarding the Streak.

The opponent then goes around the WWE, telling anybody who'll listen that they demand the match result be reversed. Don't know where to go from there, maybe a feud with Vince.

I think that could honestly work and would be the most acceptable way to get both results.

I like it except I'm not to sure how the DQ ending would go over with the crowd, I mean you don't do DQ's at Mania especially a big match like Taker's. It would just feel cheap in my opinion.

See...I'm like that...but I'd prefer that Taker have his rematch with Shawn Michaels.

30 seconds into the match, Triple H does a run-in and punches Shawn for the DQ. Then they crotch chop, Shawn shouts "I did it!" and they run away.

He could just have him beat, count the 123 himself, then end up losing.

This would make me throw things at the screen. I'd rather see HBK superkick Taker's opponent, giving them the DQ win.

I always wondered why Kennedy or Punk never cashed in MITB after Taker won the World Championship at WM23 & WMXXIV.

If they did a 2/3 falls match where the guy facing Taker got the first fall, but Taker won the latter two, the opponent can basically complain about how he actually pinned the Phenom, but that by sheer technicality he gets screwed over in the history books.

I like that cashing in the briefcase after Taker had a hard-fought title defense. But make the match last longer than 2 minutes. He is, after all, a dead man.

I have to be honest, I think the only thing regarding the streak that I'd like less than outright ending it would be to muddy the waters in some way so that ten years from now people are still having stale arguments about its validity. Three fall match, or a triple threat where he doesn't get pinned, ref blatantly screwing someone who has him beat, or anything of that nature.

I don't want to see the Streak end, but anything short of either John Cena pinning Taker clean or a red hot heel (Miz, maybe) cashing in Money in the Bank to end it and get massive heat as a result would be horrible.

Yeah. It was bad enough that Undertaker couldn't even beat GIANT GONZALEZ of all people cleanly. We don't need more blemishes on the streak.

The Spoony One actually came up with this idea in one of his Raw rants and he's completely right. The streak could be beaten so easily this way that it seems almost pointless now.
