...particularly since we're on the Road to Wrestlemania(TM).
Granted, this may all change after Elimination Chamber, when the major Wrestlemania matches get set in stone, but for now Hunter's hanging in the background a lot more than usual.
Cena/Batista is being built up, as is Edge/Jericho. Shawn's breakdown over the Undertaker has been going for months, and the Legacy breakup angle looks set to finally come to a climax at WM. But unlike those seven, Triple H is the only one of the major main eventers who really doesn't have an obvious program leading into Wrestlemania.
We could certainly be getting swerved into Shawn/HHH, but even then, that seems a remarkably passive role for him. The entire angle so far has been about Shawn's self-destruction, with Hunter mainly functioning as a straight man for him to play off of.
I'm not complaining, mind you. If anything, I think the subdued use of HHH is one of the things that's making this year's Wrestlemania buildup significantly more entertaining than last year's.
Still... I think it bears examination. He *IS* 40 now, after all. Combined with the dead crowd for HHH's main event win last year, and the "Na na, hey hey" chants when he was being stretchered off at Backlash in what was obviously supposed to be an emotional moment, I do wonder if someone high up at Titan Towers (possibly Hunter himself) may be thinking it's time to downplay the Game.

I see Triple H winning the WWE title and, what with how things were on Raw last night, defending it against Shawn Michaels. Which does not need to be a title match, but it's Triple H.

I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of doubt and stick with my long time prediction of it being HBK vs HHH at WM, with no titles being on the line. Hopefully HBK screws HHH out of the title at EC, and not Taker.

Hey, if it means HBK wins the WWE Title at WrestleMania............ ..........okay, I can't type Triple H losing a WWE Title match at 'Mania with a straight face. It's just so ridiculous!

I too see him coming out of the Chamber the WWE Champion. However, I then see him offering the title shot to Shawn, who snubs him and turns him down, leading to Sheamus coming out to claim his rematch clause at WrestleMania. From there...I dunno. Does HHH job to his workout buddy Sheamus on the biggest stage of them all? I don't see that happening. If anything, I think Sheamus ends up losing to Hunter to close the show, ending Mania on what is sure to be a sour note for a lot of people who are tired of seeing Hunter close the show.

Honestly, I see Hunter facing Sheamus at 'Mania and putting him over. They seem really committed to the guy, and beating HHH at 'Mania would pretty much make people forget that the rest of his title run has been lackluster.
A good showing at EC and then beating the Game at 'Mania would pretty much make Sheamus.

The more and more it goes on I actually believe HBK vs. Taker is going to happen for the simple reason that I have no idea what Taker is going to be doing at Mania other than facing Shawn.
Shawn can face HHH instead and if that doesn't happen then HHH can face Sheamus but who will Taker face? Cena? Well no that seems to be dead in the water now. Jericho is facing Edge, Punk and Taker we have seen before, ditto Rey.
That means there is nobody Taker can face at Mania other than Shawn. Unless anybody thinks differently?

Simple leftover part of the equation - Sheamus. He fits the old school mold for Taker's Mania feuds, and could probably put on a pretty decent match with him if not very memorable.

While I wouldn't mind seeing that match its pretty obvious Taker would win.....although its probably obvious Taker will beat anybody at Mania but hey. I just don't think Sheamus is a strong enough threat to Taker's streak right now and I'm not sure the fans would buy it.

Considering past threats to Taker's streak have included The Big Bossman, A-Train, and Mark Henry, I don't think it'd hurt too much. Besides, if anything I want someone who isn't a threat to the streak - there are people I would be okay with ending it. Shawn Michaels is not one of them. Hell, I'd rather Triple H do it than him.

Think he'll face Shemas for the title (and put him over) but would love him to be in MITB, the guy is at his best in gimmick matches and he'd be such a favourite it'll be a shocker if someone else wins...
Hey, even if he wins it, sooner or later they're going to have a MITB winner who loses his cashing in shot. I think Trips reign of terror days are long over and he'd be more than happy to take one for the team by putting over a defending champion huge by jobbing in his cash in.

HHH went 6 years in between wins at Wrestlemania. Won at 19, lost at 20, 21, 22, injured for 23, lost 24, won 25. That's pretty damn good considering his track recorrd.

Since Edge won, Sheamus has been showcased a lot more prominently as the champ. I still think it's going to be Edge vs Sheamus with HHH vs HBK in a grudge match.

The problem is not whether Trips wins or loses the match thats the problem. The problem is that he is ALWAYS in the main event when he has no earthly business being there and he tends to suck the life out of them.
