I was just watching Superstars, and Cole/Stryker said on Smackdown they would show exclusive "disturbing, devastating, and destructive" footage of what happened when Raw went off the air. And they showed a picture of Batista giving Cena a Batista bomb onto the steel steps.
What the hell?? Was there no possible way to conserve enough time to show the Cena making the save to the TV audience? Or they couldn't wait one week to get Cena involved in the angle?
I understand the need to send the live audience home happy, and I'm not even surprised that Cena showed up after the cameras went off the air. What surprises me is that they're recognizing that it actually happened. As a fan, I kinda feel screwed over in not being able to see a major development in this storyline.
Thoughts?

Agreed. Should've been on RAW. Would've been a good moment.

As long as we get to see it, I'm happy.

Or you know, they can show it on Smackdown and build it some more on there since it's Batista's show, a huge crossbrand angle and all.
I miss the days when everything wasn't crammed into one show and you would have to tune into the next show (whether it was Nitro, RAW, Thunder or Smackdown) to find out what happened. I am excited for Smackdown thanks to this. RAW has me excited for Smackdown but, in a good way instead of a "Man that sucked, I cannot wait for Smackdown to wash that away" way, for the first time in a long time.

Maybe Bret's promo went on way longer than it was supposed to and they had to go off air before getting to the good stuff.
Y'know, just like in the old days.

Because Cena totally isn't supposed to be focusing on the chamber . Could have put somebody like Jack Swagger in that spot, somebody who isn't pulling double duty. But no, let's have Cena all over the place.

Swagger's a capable and underused guy, but putting him in Cena's spot makes no business sense.
In place of someone like Ted or Kofi, perhaps. But they have ongoing tension with Orton to give reason to being in there too.

Ahhh. It's that time of the year again. In which brands mean absolutely nothing and people are allowed to just "show up" and do whatever they want to set up the Mania matches.

It happens every January through April, and then again each October and November. Would figure people would be usedto it by now.

Though I find it funny now that there is a PPV all about "Bragging Rights" for your brand...as if it REALLY matters or something.

Don't forget, Bret had a stroke, you can tell he's not quite back to 100% when he does promos. He takes a little longer and repeats himself. I don't blame him and I don't care, but it seems likely that Bret did the best he could, but time got away from him.
Or, like another poster said, to cross brand it till Mania.

I think they just wanted to end with the heels on top, they do that from time to time.

Sometimes, you just have to let the heels get some heat and put off the rescue of the babyface. This was one of those times.

Well, according to the teaser, the heels still came out on top since Batista ended up powerbombing Cena into the steel steps. Just wish I woulda been able to see Cena come out. As somebody else said, it would've been a great moment.

According to the report from the show I read, there was an entire 10-15 minute Cena-Sheamus match in between him coming out and getting powerbombed on the ring steps.
It obviously just wasn't meant to be on the show. I think it's pretty good, makes it seem a bit unplanned.

This isn't the first time they've acknowleged off-air happenings. IIRC, they showed footage of what happened after that Raw where Bret cut his promo right to the end of the show and wasn't done.

That's like in the 80's, having Koko B Ware make the save on someone in a major angle instead of Hogan

You know... the biggest storyline that has been 12 years in the making, that somehow magically resolves around "their boy" and Basketball Jones? Triple H is in the match, he's just as popular, if not more than Cena is. The kids love their DX, they have him. And it's not like it's something "new" anyways, the kids already had Cena as the champion, I'm sure they won't mind one PPV where he does something new for a change.
