Yanno, outside of the first three for four ECs, the matches don't exactly scream "THese are the top wrestlers for our brand, and we want to make 'em main eventers!"

I was marking the shit out when he won the belt and it kept going until he left the arena. Fun Story: I was bowing to Edge and marking my brains out behind a guy holding an Edge sign. So Edge spots the sign, points at it, then points at me. I marked harder than I ever have before.

Nowhere else were the problems about the Elimination Chamber than the SmackDown! match in 2008, which, by the way, was the first Elimination Chamber match for that brand.
Now, you had two main-eventers in Undertaker and Batista... and that was it. MVP and Finlay were still mid-carders, and fans probably didn't have much thought or faith in Khali or Big Daddy V.
Personally, I'm not a fan of this stipulation. The idea is that the cage is the most barbaric structure ever (so what does that make "Hell in the Cell"?), but outside of a few blade jobs, there really isn't much towards it. However, the best concept I could think of was after the 2006 match in "New Year's Revolution", where Edge used his Money in the Bank contract to get a quick victory over John Cena and helped cement himself as a main-eventer.

Jericho has also more eliminated more people in the Elimination Chamber then anyone else. The first one was the best one ever and one of the best matches of all time. I liked the Elimination Chamber matches better when they were 40 - 60 mins long not the 20 mins ones we have today.

Did you actually watch that match? It was booked with those problems in mind and it turned out to be damn good, as they focused primarily on Batista and Undertaker with Finlay and MVP having their flurries and Viscera and Khali getting eliminated quickly.

The SD chamber in 08 was really good IMO, all the NWO ones were. Them and Survivor Series are great, the others not so much.

The first EC is still, by far, my favorite. Absolutely share the same view. The original is rarely bettered (think HBK/Taker 1st Hell in a Cell, HBK/Ramon, first ladder match).

Weird to think that Mike Knox was in a PPV main event just a year ago, and now he jobs to all and sundry.

Fixed for historical accuracy. I actually popped in my Survivor Series 02 VHS for the EC match. I just finished Show/Lesnar. Fantastic show.

Well, I did like the sight of Khali submitting to Undertaker's Hell's Gate gogoplata, and I consider that to be my favorite part. Of course, I do have a very fuzzy memory of that match elsewhere, so I may have to go back and see it.
