The fact that she lost so quickly makes me wonder how the relationship with Taker is going. I've got a crazy, strange and radical answer. Maybe matches are decided upon by doing what's best for business and what's logical for the storyline rather than backstage relationships? Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.

Not really, man. Mickie got them back for embarrassing her all those months, with embarrassing Michelle by beating her with one move and then dumping cake in their faces. I honestly don't think Mickie should have won but hey. Atleast this might mean Natalya will get a shot, hopefully. Why would Mickie not win? I wanted McCool to win just for the comedy value and HHH/Booker T burial comparisons...but honestly, Mickie needed to win the match and it is completely correct that she did so.

I've got a crazy, strange and radical answer. Maybe matches are decided upon by doing what's best for business and what's logical for the storyline rather than backstage relationships? Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. Fair enough, although I wouldn't simply call it a backstage relationship, I'd call it trust. If someone trusts that you aren't going to screw the company over, trusts that you're in it for the long haul, trusts that you have the desire to learn, and trusts that you have the ability to be a success, then you will get opportunity. Do you get that trust by making friends? Sure, just like you do in any job. But you have to combine all of it. You can't be friends and not have any talent, just like you can't just be friends without the talent. I'm in sales. If there is a promotion going, and I'm performing well but constantly argue with my boss, telling him he doesn't know what he's doing, or heck, just keeping myself to myself and not being a leader in the team, then I wouldn't expect that promotion. I'd fall under the category of 'talented but not worth trusting'. And if I was friends with the guy but was falling way behind the rest of the team on monthly targets, I'd fall under the category of 'nice guy but needs improvement'. I wouldn't expect my boss to give me the promotion in either of those cases. Being a leader and forging a good relationship with the boss is tantamount to success. It shows you can be trusted to handle their business. But you also need the talent to actually do what they ask of you. Being friends with the boss in that example but not meeting the targets would mean I get to keep my job, because he would trust that I have the desire to learn and improve, but he wouldn't trust me to handle increased responsibility yet. Regal is buds with Trips but has never really gotten anything more than he truly deserved out of that friendship. He's a solid mid-carder that gets solid heat and can work a solid match, and as such - despite his friendship with HHH - has never gotten past the solid position on the card. When he almost did, he got suspended. Boom - the trust that he could handle it was gone.

Like most I thought it was fitting. I think they could put on a really good match and they probably will when McCool is 100%.

This thing isn't over. McCool still gets a rematch, which will likely be a competitive match, and there's still Beth Phoenix, who will only get more over now that she's going around taking it to the men, to consider.

McCool sold the DDT like an absolute champ, the heels got their comeuppance, and everyone was happy. I loved it.

I hated it.
Seriously, the reason why I cared about the feud was seeing McCool humiliate Mickie James, and to see her win like that? That sucked, IMO. I understand the importance of it, but I wanted McCool to remain champion instead for no other reason than to not have Mickie hold the title (like I said: the Divas that I care about are made out to never win, so why should I care about some dumb broad that they push to the moon?)

That's understandable, if you wanted to see Michelle win above all others then natch you won't like it, even if most other people did.
Look at it this way - she got a lot of promo time from this angle. If she can take that and build it into something solid then she'll benefit from this too, right?

It took up too much valuable PPV time that could have been better used on a Hornswoggle skit.

the match was a little bit longer than I like to see out of the divas, but other than that it was fine.
