Beat me to it. Sweet cheese on an ice cream sandwich, would I have loved to see the reactions of parents who found out their kids had watched that.

Jim Henson's The Storyteller was pretty freaky aswell. Any excuse to post a Charlie Brooker clip. I was one of those kids who was terrified of everything. I have no reason why, but especially the thing from the Softmints ad, "Mr Soft". (Who actually looked like Mr Noseybonk if I recall correctly. Another one that didn't scare me much, but I can still use to this day to scare the life out of my friend Rachel, The Riddlers. Then one episode, these two puppets, regular characters, one of them looked like Beaker from the Muppets with big ears, and the other one was this big fat lad, they both wore school uniforms, the fat one had a cap on that covered his eyes. Anyway, this one time the fat one claimed that he could turn himself inside out by sticking his fingers up his nose and pulling. The Beaker one said to the camera "you don't really want to see this" and held a hankerchief over the camera. So although it was a black screen, you heard a huge slurping sound effect, the fat one laughing, and the Beaker one groaning in disgust, things like "oh, you're dripping!", until he turned himself the right way out again and the hankerchief got pulled away. Was it not the leprachauns from Live & Kicking that did that? I remember it, but only vaguely. Edit: Actually, I think it was Saturday Aardvark.

Wow, did they look at the mask? I did like that clip from the Riddlers though, I've never heard of it but it looks like an alright show

I have to cheat, but since I'm sure they showed it on Disney Channel a bunch of times, I'm gonna count it.
An American Tail, the reveal of the Great Mouse of Minsk.

If you haven't read it then do it now. The full short story can be found online.

Still though any little kid that doesn't know who Twain is would probably be scared to death at that whole thing, I mean.... damn.

I watched that movie years ago when I was hungover as all hell after my birthday. I had gone to this bar that my friend owned and he gave me a free birthday drink in a pitcher. Well, stupid me, I'd set it down to play darts or be talking to someone with my head turned away and he'd pour straight booze into it. You'd turn around and you'd say, "Damn, I thought I drank more out of it than that ..." and you drink another huge portion of it. I had started out the night with a rum and coke, but by the time the night was over with it was the color of weak iced tea. The bartender would yell, "Drink your drink, dammit!" and he's question your manhood and you'd drink more and more ... Between that and the shots that was the drunkest I had been in my life. I had made it home somehow and managed to sit on the corner of my bed. I bent down to try and untie my boots, but I was so snorked up I couldn't figure out how to undo the knots, so I said, "Smurf it!" and passed out that way. Halfway on the bed, feet dragging on the floor, fully clothed on a hot June night without a window open. So you can imagine the hangover I had when I turned on my television the next morning at 11. It was already 86 out and humid as hell. I was so sick I couldn't stand up and go into the kitchen to get some water. So I sat there in agony, and on the 7 channels I could get this movie was the only thing on. So imagine how I felt when this scene came on ... By that point in the movie, I had that Stone Cold Steve Austin "What the Smurf?" look on my face anyway.

Even if you know who Twain was you might be scared to death by The Mysterious Stranger. The story is deep, dark, and a variable feast for the mind. It is easily the favorite work of one of my favorite authors. I'll repeat again that the story is a must read.

I'll have to read it though, thanks for telling me the name of it so I can check it out.

The "pink elephants" scene from Dumbo used to scare the hell out of me as a kid.
