Before I start, I want to beg people to not focus on the wrong point here. This is a thread about a christian band, but it has nothing to do with their beliefs and should not. Please do not post anything to get this thread locked.
Of the bands that I liked as a kid (I'm talking the 80's and 90's here), the one that I think it is the biggest shame that they did not get to have mainstream success is the metal band Deliverance. I honestly have to wonder if they had made secular (non-religious) music they would have been just as successful as any speed metal band not named Metallica. To demonstrate my point I will post a few videos. Please, just judge the quality of the music and not the topic of the songs.:
Bonus points for the fact that they clearly are fans of Queensryche and frequently drop references to the band in their music.

They remind me of how Metallica was playing at around that time and that's probably their problem. A lot of bands were imitating their playing style and some got written off as generic.

That was a problem for them early on. They changed their style over the years, but that alienated some older fans. Sometimes you cannot win for losing.

Lol Totally Metallica meets Queensryche. You weren't kidding. Seems a bit generic, even if they're pretty talented. As for the Christian thing? Sabbath was more obvious then these guys. I can see why they didn't make it big, I doubt religion was it. I'm not surprised they got lost in the shuffle. The second song was excellent. They sound a little King Diamondish too later on. I thought Jon Oliva was big. Maybe it's my fault, when you listen to so much music it's hard not to hear about 5 different bands in one song. So maybe that's why they sound generic to me.

Well, very few people don't have something in common with someone else. I mentioned that they were clearly fans of Queensryche (in fact, the band apparently got their name from one of their songs), and while I think Queensryche is pretty special they sounded like Judas Priest clones early on. Good ones, to be sure, but it was clear they were fans.
