I just checked on Pearl Jam tickets for Indianapolis in May ... lawn seats are $22 ... Livenation tacks on top of that $17 IN FEES. A $22 ticket ends up costing in $39. I hate how deceitful prices are. Just say a ticket is $39 and have no fees instead of trying to trick people into thinking they're relatively cheap and then make them pay almost as much as the ticket is in fees.

With the way the economy is, I have no idea how those places are still in business.

Thing is, they have to make money too.
True, their fees are much higher than smaller, independent ticket companies, but since they're Livenation and Ticketmaster, they can get away with it.
Also, many of those fees are decided by the venue and artist.

I understand that they have to make money, too. I just hate how they mislead people on ticket prices, you think they're gonna be a certain amount and then at the end they tack on ridiculous fees.

how much money would it cost you in gas to go to the venue, buy the tickets, and drive home? people don't ever take this into account when talking about convenience charges

So it's not as if they aren't going to upcharge you anyway, it just sucks even more from the convienence of your own home. I dislike both Ticketmaster and Live Nation, but because no matter how high the additional charges they tack on are, someone will still buy the tickets, they are a necessary evil.

the worst I've ever experienced was $6 in surcharges on a $10 ticket to go see Halestorm with Burn Halo and Veer Union last year. 60 FREAKIN PERCENT!!!!!!!!

I don't know how bad taxes and surcharges were but I know my friend had trouble placing an order last night while trying to get tickets during the presale for a Raw taping soon. It took him at least 4 different tries of entering his information and it wasn't until about 11:00 that he got through (the presale ended at midnight). The tickets including tax ended up being about $30 for floor seats when they're normally $45 at regular price before tax.

That's what happens when Mr. Burns bought the company.

I completely agree. I was looking at ordering two GA tickets for an Angels & Airwaves show in my area. $27 per isn't bad, yet with the fees that becomes over $72. It's basically tacking on another ticket just in fees. Complete bullshit.
But, if you want to go, what other choice do you have?

I just did that as well for the presale, and 1 $60 ticket cost me just southbound of $80 after all was said and done... and I don't even think it covers parking (whether that be in a parking garage or anywhere in downtown Toledo in general).
