I shouldn't hold Wayne responsible for this, but wow are all the Wayne biters completely and unequivocally awful. Nicki Minaj just screams of "HEY GUYS, I'M INTERESTING IN THE MOST UNINTERESTING WAYS!"

I won't go as far to say that Lil Wayne is worst rapper ever, because he has a huge fan base and is obviously doing something right. However he really never appealed to me in any way, even his so called "great" stuff like Tha Carter 3 and his other mix tapes that he's done are boring to me, and in my opinion he isn't the phenomenal rapper/GOAT that everybody makes him out to be.

Who considers "Carter 3" his great stuff? It was viewed by most as a critical disappointment, a drop in the bucket within a sea of mixtapes.

I don't listen to a lot of Lil Wayne, so i just listened to what they recommended to me which happened to be Tha Carter 3 and some mix tapes that i can't remember the names of off the top of my head

Nicki Minaj just screams of "HEY GUYS, I'M INTERESTING IN THE MOST UNINTERESTING WAYS!" Outside of "Bedrock" I don't find her interesting at all either. I mean she's different I guess, but she's just not my cup of tea. I do like Tyga though, he's kinda cool.

You guys talk about "no name" underground rappers as if the fact that they aren't mainstream automatically disqualifies them from being better than Weezy. Because notoriety has everything to do with talent. I can listen to underground rap with no problem....B.o.B., Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Slaughterhouse, etc.... It's just most of the time anytime rap is mentioned on this board it seems the mentality is mainstream = bad....which is a very tiresome opinion to hear... Mainstream isn't bad. The downside is that mainstream is that it can get homogenous, see Black Eyed Peas pre-Elefunk versus post Elefunk. Not all mainstream acts are this way. There are bright spots and such, but there is a reality that major labels want you to be commercially successful over artistically viable. The indie labels want commercial success too, but their scale of such is different. I am not a fan of rap as a genre, but I've gotten to the point where I am not a genre fan, but an artist fan. So I like what I've heard of Lil' Wayne's stuff, he is miles ahead of the "dance club rap." But compared to Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, Kanye (he's a douche, but I don't like his music for his personality; see Metallica). But I don't have a great enough sampling of his work, so I can't say my opinion on him is fully formed.

Mannn ya'll trippin, Nicki can spit too. Like I said, stop listening to the damn radio! She has talent that's fine, but I had never even heard of her until "Bedrock". I don't doubt that she can rap, she's just not my cup of tea is all. I tried to find YouTube stuff about her and all I could find that wasn't interviews was a guest spot on a Gucci Mane song that I really can't type out the name to.

Wayne can be GREAT, but his lines are sumtimes mediocre. I have the Rebirth album, and theres a song, "Drop the World" which features Eminem, Em' completely OWNS the song and the album. In my opinion Eminem has become the greatest rapper alive, if not of all time.

Mannn ya'll trippin, Nicki can spit too. Like I said, stop listening to the damn radio! If Nicki could spit, why must she craft 80% of her material after Wayne? I'm damn sure she didn't rap like that before she signed to Young Money. I mean, after all, she's from my old neighborhood.

Drake style is more like Wayne than Nicki's. Which may be the biggest reason why I loathe Drake's music.

But for the sake of heresy, she said hell no and hit me with the pepper spray.

Against my better judgment, I decided to tune into 106 & Park just to see the current state of mainstream music. Just my luck that the 1st video they show is "4 My Town" by Birdman ft. Lil' Wayne & Drake. My head hit the desk in record time. I forced myself to watch the video, determined to find something that I liked. The only positive thing about that video was that it wasn't longer.

I'm not by any stretch of the imagination versed in rap outside of what's on the radio and Eminem, but I don't think Lil Wayne/Young Money are all that bad. I just don't like all the kids worshiping him like some G-d when he's going away on weapons charges. Maybe its be being cynical and just getting older. I don't know. But he/they is/are talented.
