I was at the store yesterday, and as I was putting my groceries in the car, this lady says, almost in a mumble, "wood yoo laike to donate a dollah to yoof activitees?" I can only assume it was one of the mothers, and she had a kid in the program. I'm wondering, whatever happened to bake sales, or business sponsorships, or car washes, or candy sales, or any number of things that kids do to help fund their activities? I'm sure that with the time and energy spent walking around the parking lot of a grocery store with her hand out, she could have baked a couple dozen cookies, and charge a buck for two. I'm more than happy to get bilked out of a dollar if it means I get a couple of cookies, and the proceeds go to a good cause, but what she did is no better than panhandling.

For all you know, it WAS panhandling and the woman was trying to scam you out of a buck or two. That sounds really shady.

Oh, it happens every year when the weather gets warm. Sometimes it's the kids themselves doing it, which that sends an even worse message.
