....whored out for commercials?
Seems like every other week there is a new commercial using either a Johnny Cash song or a Beatles song (usually not even the original, but some crappy knock off remake)

Any commercial that uses a Beatles song immediately makes me not want to use, buy, or consume said product.
Even worse is the extent that Yoko has whored out Lennon in the last few years, using a digitally-manipulated video and a vocal impersonator to have him shill laptops.

Beatles hands down. I haven't heard that many commercials with Johnny Cash in it... except for a few... an old surge (i think) commercial comes to mind that used ring of fire

This, this, this, and........... this. Especially that horrible cover of 'Hello Goodbye' by the Jonas Brothers for I think Target a couple years back I've been hearing more of Johnny Cash lately, but it's been from his new album, but everybody has used The Beatles forever.

The worst case of using a Beatles song in recent history was "Get Back" for Jay Leno's return to The Tonight Show. You got chocolate in my rancid feces-tinged peanut butter!

The Beatles.
Whoever controls Cash's songs at least has some standards as they drew the line at "ring of fire" being used for a haemorrhoids advert.

It has to be the Beatles. You can thank Michael Jackson for that.
I don't remember hearing Johnny Cash used in any commercials though. I may have just missed them completely.

I heard God is Gonna Cut You Down couple of times in movie trailers or TV Show commercials but that's about it.

I seriously freaked out when I heard him on the Dawn Of The Dead soundtrack - I thought that was so cool.
I remember hearing a remix version of his song "Country Boy" with the trailer for Zombieland. But beyond that I don't hear him anywhere else.

Agreed. Normally, it's not the sort of thing that bugs me but all the Beatles songs being used for commercials these days pisses me off to no end why...? Because the Beatles mean something to a lot of people. They didn't shill their music when they controlled it. When they lost the rights, they've had their stuff all over the place and have expressed their disdain for that. So it's sad to hear a song you care about, that an artist cares about, that is out there advertising something stupid and insipid and disposable. My favorite moment is Beatles shilling: Philips running a series of ads using "Getting Better" from Sgt. Peppers. The lyrics is "Got to admit it's getting better. It's getting better all the time" Then the ad ends. The next line of the song: "It can't get no worse!"

A company using the Beatles in their commercial makes me less likely to buy the product, too, but that's because the Beatles in general piss me off.

Cash has had a ton of songs in commercials. "I have been every where" has been used an ass load.
But the Beatles take it. Their stuff is every where much like Cash has been every where. I am less likely to buy stuff their songs shill as well, but mostly because I don't like them.
