Being "head over heels" in love with someone.
Isn't it normal to have your head above your feet? If the expression were "heels over head" I could see the point.

"I thought to myself" You can't think to anyone else... You can share your thoughts with other people, which I do believe can be considered thinking to someone else. And in any case, you can also think out loud (or at least voice your thinking), and possibly even harass other people with your thinking by following them around and commenting on what you're thinking. What? Am I really the only one who does that? Actually, you can't share a thought or voice a thought unless you first HAVE a thought. So I agree: "I thought to myself" is a senseless statement... because you can't think to anyone else. .

"Good grief", when it is said the speaker probably isn't that happy.
