www.mercurynews.com/ci_14968786?source=most_viewedI'm going to rant here, but this seriously pisses me off greatly. You want kids to stop eating fast food? That falls on the damn parents to stop taking their kids!! These kids need somebody to take them to the restaraunt, the food just doesn't appear for the kids, so blame the parents and stop blaming the fast food joints! If I go and eat 25 buckets of KFC every day I'm going to get fat but is it KFC's fault? No, it'd be mine because it's my choice too, and it's the parents "fault" for taking them to the place. Everybody knows McDonald's makes unhealthy food, but stripping them of everything isn't going to stop the problem, IT FALLS ON THE PARENTS! I know it says it's only in a few McDonalds' now, and I'm hoping like hell this doesn't catch on, because it's ridicoulous to blame the restaurant when it's really the parents fault.

That's not as bad as I thought. You got a kid, your trying to raise him right and they see a commercial for some toy they want from McDs and just starts yelling about it or begging for it for hours at end. Your probably going to break at some point. I picture it the same as Grocery stores having some checkout lanes without candy.
I agree with everything you say though, but I just think its tough for parents sometimes if there kid is going nuts for some toy/trinket from McDs.

The problem is that those don't seem to exist anymore. Hence us plunging into a nanny state more and more every day.

But the toy's the healthiest and tastiest part of the meal!

It's only in incorporated parts of that county. And if the kids meal is under 485 calories, it is able to include a toy. I don't know -- you can always buy a toy outside of the meals, I thought. Ah well, is there anyone else we can blame for our own slights?

So technically I could still take a kid to an R rated movie though afterwards.

In my city, the goddamn idiot parents give their snot nosed little offspring ten bucks and drop them off at the curb, and they get themselves into my precious R rated horror and action movies, and then they sit there with their douchebag friends and cut up, txt, and giggle their asses off for the entire run time of the movie! BLARGH. Sorry, you touched a nerve there.

I agree with everything you say though, but I just think its tough for parents sometimes if there kid is going nuts for some toy/trinket from McDs. I get what you're saying, but that's just a case where the parents have to let the kid know they can't have it. Hell if I had it my way as a kid I would've had McDonald's every single day, but I had parents that told me no and that was that. Sure I may have begged for it, but in the end I just didn't get my way, so it's up to the parents to be a little strict with their kids in a situation like this. Plus toys never made me want the meal anyway, I wanted it because I liked the food, but I didn't get my way all the time and that's what parents have to do now. These legal types have to understand advertising is out there, I grew up with all the fast food icons in McDonald's but if the parent lets it be known they can't have the food all the time it'd solve the problem.

At least I'm not the only one who came in here thinking this was going to be a Kit-Kat/Nell Carter tribute thread.

When is the last time McDonalds had commercials advertising what toy they were giving away? Maybe I just don't watch enough tv but it seems like they advertise when the toy is linked to a movie that is out. So should we blame the movie industry for adverstising through mcdonalds?
McDonalds offers apples insread of fries and milk insread of soda so it's the parents choice.
These people need to stay out of other people's business. If they don't want thier kids eating mcdonalds then don't take them there and shut the hell up.
I was at the store once in the fruit and vegetable section and this fat woman in her fat person cart came up next to me with a kid. The kid saw a pack of carrot sticks with a character from Cars on it. The kid got excited and asked if he could have the carrots. The woman sternly told him no and that he didn't need it. In her basket on her fat person scooter? Cookies and donuts. Nothing else.
Blame mcdonalds all you want but it comes down to the parenting. Yeah your kid may throw a fit. Guess what? It's your choice to give in or not. If you give in then it's your choice to get the healthy alternative.
It's nobody's damm business what I eat or what anyone else eats. At least these parents are feeding thier kids.
Unlike these kids that were neighbors of mine that were skin and bones yet the mom was about 240 lbs. I would see the kids eating slices of lunch meat while the mom would have a whole sandwich eating it right in front of them.

I was expecting this to be about the 80's TV show or some John Stossel news report.
