This is going to over like a lead baloon, but here goes nothing.......... Dane Cook is one of my favorite comedians, so let's appreciate the man's work!! Puts on flame-retardant suit ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I don't hate the guy, I just think his movies are usually sucktacular. I did really enjoy his set on Dave Attell's Insomniac Tour.

He's not a genius by any means, but he tells some jokes that relate to real life situations which get a laugh out of me (like one joke he told about when on the way to a party the street sign is always covered by a huge ancient tree ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) )

I LOVE Retaliation. But 2 things with Dane Cook come to mind.
1) He is MUCH BETTER on audio than video. He just runs around the stage doing stupid things with his hands, which detracts from some funny material.
2) The screaming girls in every audience drive me nuts.

Even if you don't like him because of his popularity, still listen to Retaliation. You don't get the screaming fangirls and it's right before he shot up into douchebaggery. And his bit on the Insomniac Tour is only memorable for the Price is Right bit. Vicious Circle was alright by my standards. Some pretty memorable parts. The movie theater, seeing his dad's unmentionables ("some day, this will all be yours!"). Rough Around the Edges was just that...rough.

Despite whatever negative criticism Cook receives as a stand up comedian, personally, I think he does his job extremely well. And I'll admit, I don't usually go out of my way to find "good" stand up comedy, it's not my favorite form of entertainment or anything...but out of all the comedians I've seen, no one makes me laugh more or harder than Dane Cook. Isn't that what stand-up comedians are supposed to do?

I love Dane Cook. I think he gets far too much crap from people who dislike his antics; I personally find them very endearing to his frantic style of delivery. Vicious Circle is an awesome show; I also saw him live, and he was great. Consider me a fan.

"Ma'am, are you trying to molest me via drive-thru?"
"And the pickles ... the pickles!"
"Sweet and sour sauce all over my body...."
Yeah, I was introduced to Dane Cook by a former co-worker, and once I heard his bit about working at Burger King (where I met said co-worker) I was hooked.
Not my favorite, but I'm definitely a fan.

I never cared for the man or his work, but the fact that he stole material from Louis CK is what made me blacklist him. He's no better than Ned "Carlos Mencia" Holness or the awful, awful Andy Dick as far as I'm concerned.

I dislike him personally, but he is actually pretty funny. Some of his earlier bits, especially, were quite good. But like someone else said, I just hate that he's "the hot comic" so half his jokes are met with screams rather than laughter.

Can see why you would dislike him after listening to that video, always hate it when comedians steal material. Although I would like to think the majority of his stand-up is original, particularly the parts in 'vicious circle' i found hilarious.

In that the original idea is the same, but there are different ways to do it, like when we see sitcoms do the same type of episode but the outcome and arrival are different ya know?

I'm staying neutral on the "joke stealing" thing, since I'm also a BIG fan of Louis C.K., but a friend of mine put it into perspective this way once: "Eventually, there will be no original material left, and everyone will have stolen material from everyone else. The key will be in the delivery."
I tend to think along those same lines.

His movies suck but I enjoy his stand up. He is a silly guy, and I "get" his sense of humor.
