I got to wondering how it is that Sandra ended up on the villains side, and the only conclusion I could come to was that they had to even out the sides one way or the other.
I don't remember her being evil, at least not anywhere near the level of the other villains.

Cirie is a hero? God, she was annoying and rode the co-tails of all the other girls in fans vs favorites. I never saw her in her original season, though.
Seems like a decent cast. Villains are stacked, lot of good players on there.

Sandra is awesome, I don't know what you guys are talking about. One of my favorite characters on the show. I hope she makes it really far. Although, I agree on her being on the villains tribe as being odd. She didn't seem particularly villainous, especially, with Johnny Fairplay on her season, who was the real villain, who she hated, and also aligned with a hero, that being Rupert, back on her original season. I guess she may be placed on that tribe due to having a very confrontational and aggressive personality. Which in fact makes it all the more better, due to the fact she's in a tribe of villains with so much volatile personalities. You know, the Russell's, Courtney's, Coach's, and Randy's. === Here is my in depth look at the characters. As you will see, I rather not have third timers, especially when they were from Micronesia, Fans Vs Favorites. I rather watch a show, with new interactions, with different characters, and not the same character's over and over. THE HEROES
Rupert Boneham Don't really like the fact that he's a 3rd timer, but he hasn't been around in a while, and he's a necessary choice for hero.
James Clement Dislike this choice. He's a third timer, from a recent season, as a 'Favorite' in Micronesia. Maybe they should have casted a 'Fan' instead, like the evil Natalie Bolton.
Colby Donaldson Don't really like the fact that he's a 3rd timer, but he hasn't been around in a while, and he's a necessary choice for hero.
Cirie Fields Like her, but she's a third timer, from a recent season, as a 'favorite' in Micronesia. IMO she should have won that season.
Amanda Kimmel Dislike this choice. She's a third timer, from a recent season, as a 'favorite' in Micronesia. I still don't understand why they only casted the several favorites from that season, and none of the Fans.
Jessica "Sugar" Kiper Good choice.
Stephenie LeGrossa Third timer. But hey, she hasn't been around in a while. Plus she's a good choice. Although, not really a hero or villain.
James "J.T." Thomas, Jr. I'm surprised he's back so soon, after winning really recently. Decent choice.
Tom Westman OMG, Great Choice! One of the best players/winners ever! I like that they managed to cast him again!
Candice Woodcock Kind of a 'Huh?' choice for me, but I'll take her. She had a big role in Cook Islands with her "mutiny" plus this is only her second time playing. The odd thing is she's on the heroes tribe. She was more a of a villain back in her original season, but she did have a nice girl personality, so I guess they are going by personality, and game play style, when choosing tribes for these All Stars.
THE VILLAINS
Tyson Apostol Another "Huh?" choice, that I dislike, cause he wasn't really an important character, especially when he came from a super recent season, where he was just a side kick of the main villain, who also happens to be in this season and tribe too, and especially compared to these other big characters. I guess he was a last minute choice, to replace Richard Hatch as a Male Villain. But come on, there are soo many more to choose from. Shane Powers, Brian Heidik, Judd Seargent, Johnny Fairplay (They should have saved him for this season instead of Micronesia) Rob Cesterino, or Todd Herzog (cause'e he's a villainous gay winner just like Hatch), anyone?
Randy Bailey Nice Choice.
Sandra Diaz-Twine Love this Choice, as I've written earlier. Surprised she is on the villains tribe. Maybe Candice and herself should have switched tribes.
Danielle DiLorenzo Another "Huh?" choice. Not a big character at all. In fact pretty forgettable. But then, she was only on once, and being that's she's a non-entity, perhaps she will do something interesting this time around, like Parvati did in Micronesia. I'll take it, but I can't ignore, that compared to these other character's she's definetly an odd choice.
Russell Hantz Well, what can I say? He deserves it, but being that the others don't know a thing about him (they filmed this while Season 19, Samoa, was filming, so he has an advantage over the rest) Plus he'll probably play similarly to how he did before, due to the him thinking he won Season Samoa at the time, using that playstyle.
Jerri Manthey Don't really like the fact that she's a 3rd timer, but she hasn't been around in a while, and he's a necessary choice for villain.
Rob "Boston Rob" Mariano Don't really like the fact that he's a 3rd timer, but he hasn't been around in a while, and he's a necessary choice for villain.
Parvati Shallow Well being that she was the only women winner to completely own a season in a man's style way, as in she won while being a dominating strategist, without use of a strong male. Even though she's a third timer, she deserves this spot here.
Benjamin "Coach" Wade Hilarious character. They need him here. Great Choice.
Courtney Yates Possibly one of the most entertaining contestants ever. Great Choice as well.

Candice being a hero and Sandra being a villain made no sense to me either. Of the final 3 in Pearl Islands, Fairplay and Lil were easily the most hateable, and I remember begging for Sandra to somehow win that season. And Candice, well, she was just a bitch at times. It almost feels like someone got their memos crossed on the casting or something.
I want to get excited for this season and I do think it'll be good, but this cast just isn't doing much for me. I was a huge fan of a lot of these people. Amanda, Cirie, Stephenie, James, Rupert. I just seriously have no urge what so ever to see them play again. Hell, two of them comprised the final 3 in Micronesia not even two years ago. I understand why they went with them in a way, but there were so many others that were eliminated in final sixes, about the mid way point, people like that who really could have gotten a second shot.
I'm not damning the season before it happens or anything, but I'm just saying I'm not as excited for it as I have been in recent years. Seems all too familiar.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm sure the producers wanted to make this a HUGE season, but people's egos and lives get in the way. To me, people like Colby and Jerry are people who would be on the Ultimate Survivor Show that would be the BEST 20 to play the game. The first All Star was probably the closest they'll ever get to the true definition of the best because of the amount of popular people and winners that you had on the show. I would have like to see people solely from the seasons after the first All Star, but I'm sure the producers asked a lot of "better" contestants and got turned down. I mean, a Villians team with no Richard or Fairplay? Most of the time, it comes down to the yes or no from the contestant.

Ugh, I am not very excited about this cast. Seeing the same people over and over with their pre-existing alliances, gives it an even more RW/RR Challenge feel.
I am confused as to why certain people are on the teams they are on, but I guess it's harder to find female villains. Sandra is the most puzzling. I thought she was the best of Pearl Islands. I'd rank Stephenie and Candace above her in that villain aspect.
The Heroes guys side seems very strong. I think that'll carry that side through the first couple of immunities.
The player I am most excited about is JT. He had a great social game, but I want to see his game playing/strategy outside of Stephen.
Oh, Russell's hat is ridiculous. At least the tan one last time around was practical.

For the heroes side, why didn't they get good ol' Bob to play again? I mean, he was awesome in that season and pulling off that streak of immunity wins, he deserves another go, even if he did take home $1.1 million, which JT did.

For Survivor Samoa, just four of the 20 contestants actually applied, and that includes Mike Borassi, who applied last season and was asked back this season after being pulled pre-game. Of the other 15, four applied for other shows (like Amazing Race) and were cast instead for Survivor, which means 12 were recruited off the street.

That's not too bad, compared to Season Fiji, where everyone was a recruit, except for one person, who ended up being the one medically evacuated that season. So it's kind of an improvement. Also I'd say some recruits aren't necesarilly a bad thing. Heck, the recruiting, brought in Evil Russell. Although, yea, people who sign up, ie, the fans, should be of utmost of importance. === Darn, I'm turning into a Survivor Nerd. The past few seasons got me hooked back on this show.

Like The Cast, but were missing a few. Terri, Yul, Big Tom, Heidi, and Bob would all be good heroes. Would have loved to see Jaison and Erik back too. But where the hell is Bobby Jon? Judd, Penner, Rob Cesterino Ken and Corrine would be great villiains Rooting for Russell, but based on his look at the 19 finale, I don't think he does that well. And in a crazy predicition, I don't think Boston Rob will last long. i think he'll pull an Fairplay in microneisa, and ask to be voted off, because he misses Amber and the baby.
Don't think Cirie will last long either. Challenges will mean everything this season and she will be the weakest link. Also she' skated her way to the end in both her seasons, don;t think itwill happen again. Just beacause everybody loves him, I will predict that Rupert Boneham will become the first Survior player ever to win the million dollar prize twice.

OK, this pisses me off. Jonathan Penner told some people that he was originally asked to return for Heroes vs. Villains and accepted, but ended up losing his spot to Russell after Samoa was filmed. It isn't that Russell bumped him that gets me, it's that they looked at this cast, looked at Penner, and decided people like CANDICE and TYSON showed more on TV to deserve being brought back than he did. That's just wrong.

Coach was more of a dufus than a villain.
Tyson was just an out and out prick. Although nobody outpricked Randy. Then again, the season where the tribes were separated by race was the first season I ever saw.
