So, I've been considering starting Smallville over the past couple weeks, and was trying to get someone else's opinion, as no one I know watches the show (which might be an early warning). I really don't know that much about Superman, but have been looking to get into him and thought it might be interesting to start with Smallville before I move onto the animated series. Any opinions about the show?

Avoid season 4 (sans maybe 3 episodes) and have a ball. The past two seasons (what little I have seen) has been some of the best episodes. In fact thank Smallville for my avatar.

Sweet Jesus yes. It's one of the best shows on TV as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, ever since Gough and Miller left, the show has been clicking on all cylinders. Gough and Miller never wanted to move things along and within the last two seasons, we've seen a lot of character development take place.

Any opinions about the show? 5 out of 7 of the season's episodes will sell you on the show (if you're a fan of the Superman mythos). Watching Erica Durance do ANYTHING will cover the rest.

Alison Mack (Chloe) is apparently leaving the show.
I like this show and in the last few seasons there have been some good episodes (The JSA one was awesome) and some bad ones (they really screwed up on the Doomsday storyline).
Michael Rosenbaum is the best Lex Luthor ever. The show isn't the same without him.

Most definitely. Although, you're a bit late in the game at this point.
The first three seasons were fantastic. Then, we had Season 4...and apart from the premier, the Flash episode, and the finale, the less said about that the better. Things rebounded with seasons 5 and 6 (it had the Justice League...A LIVE ACTION JUSTICE LEAGUE BY GOD!!)...then got kinda flat again with 7 (but it DID give us Bizzaro, and I love Bizarro no matter how we get him!). Season 8 saw things improve again with the Doomsday storyline (I liked it, dammit, all except for the finale) and the Legion of Superheroes (hell YEAH!).
Haven't watched Season 8. It's on Friday, and I tend to go out with my girlfriend on Fridays. No offense to Superman...but girlfriend > television, no matter what's on.

Just wanted to bump this up a bit. At this point it's the Lois and Clark show. Not that that's a bad thing. I've been waiting for this to happen since Season 4. Hard to believe Durance has already been on the show for 6 years.

How much longer till he puts on the suit? It's been 10 years hasn't it?

They intorudced the Suicide Squad mid-season and it's been a little bit of a mess.

IIRC, a couple of episodes back, Clark said his training has allowed him to control his powers for situations like that. Otherwise, Lois would probably be broken in half.

I didn't care for it when it started, but right now, they're churning out really good shows.

count me in as a convert, been watching for past couple of years now - loved, loved "Absolute Justice", made up for the disappointing "Doomsday" in the last series. They certainly seem to be progressing towards the last episode of the 10th (which I reckon will be the last) season being when Clark becomes Superman instead of "the blur".
And my god, do they get some hot chicks on this show... *drool*
