Not a phrase, just an annoying buzzword. Snark/snarky - sarcastic jerks don't need any more validation for their high school cynicism than they already get from themselves.

Adding 'gate' to the end of whatever scandal is in the news. It was WATERGATE HOTEL. WATERGATE IS ONE WORD! If you were being really anal with the application, it would be 'Hotel' after the scandal. Oh and I always pronounce NES and SNES as one word, I think that may be a British thing (this the cue for all other Brits to say I'm wrong).

I blame Dane Cook for bringing "snarky" to attention, I had never even heard the word until I heard him say it (CAN NOT post the video here, but it's from his MSG gig I believe.)

Not really a phrase, but anytime some says, broseph, bromosexual, bromance, etc.
It was cute at first but please stop now.
And as for "I could care less", it wouldn't seem so bad if people would actually say it right.

"Could care less."
IT'S COULDN'T CARE LESS YOU f***ING IDIOT! IF YOU COULD CARE LESS, THEN YOU CLEARLY CARE SOMEWHAT RIGHT NOW. IT IS NOT THE RIGHT PHRASE TO DESCRIBE YOUR APATHY!
Whew. Sorry about that. That's my biggest English pet peeve ever.

"Your call is important to us."
If so, why did I have to press 15 random numbers to get through the automated system that couldn't help me with my problem, just to go on hold for 20 minutes before finally getting to talk to someone who can help?

"Emo" in places where things clearly aren't emo. "Spider-Man 3 was so emo, how he wore all black and had his hair in his face!" He also played JAZZ piano and strutted around town like its Saturday Night Fever. Also, Spider-Man was ANGST-RIDDEN before emo was even invented. Just an example. Holy God, thank you. Speaking as someone who followed the ACTUAL emo scene for years before the mass media pushed it off a cliff, there's very little that irritates me more than mistaken definitions of emo. Every American should be issued a copy of Nothing Feels Good by Andy Greenwald just so they can learn enough to shut up. You'd think teenage angst was a concept created in the late 90s by Vagrant Records the way some people talk. (Apparently no one's heard a death disc from the 60s before. Or read a Stan Lee Spider-Man issue.)

"Cut them off at the pass." Cut them off at the pass? I *hate* that cliche! Unless you are literally cutting them off at the pass. Unless you are playing Fire Emblem or some RTS, I doubt that is the case, though. For me, it's "could care less". Well, I am glad you care at least a little. A few others: "Umm" to begin a typed sentence, usually to patronize someone. "Like ___ on steroids". "____ stopped being relevent...." Often the mark of someone who is egocentric and utterly lacking in perspective. I've heard people say this about Dane Cook, among others. Considering Dane Cook still regularly performs in huge venues, I would say he's awfully relevant. "____is the worst band ever". Actually, I'm betting they aren't. If they even got noticed, I would bet cash that other, inferior bands were likely overlooked in favor of them.

"Oh lighten up, dude, it's dark humor!"
The refuge of assholes and bad comedians who want everyone to find their needlessly offensive statements awesome because if you don't, that means you're butthurt and narrow-minded. Hey, guess what? When you take dark humor, but you don't put any actual humor, you just get pointless, offensive BS. Saying it's dark humor doesn't automatically make it funny, and it doesn't make you less of a prick. If you want your offensive jokes to be acceptable, make them, you know, humorous.
