Ironic how smarks are the ones ruining the Montreal angle when it is booked for smarks. Do you think the casuals know/care anything about what went on in Montreal over a decade ago? You have seen WWE in the last, oh, 12 years have you? Fans know about it because WWE will not let them forget. Hell, WWE's main storyline on their biggest show is about Montreal. That said, I hate the angle. It has been done too many times to have anything left to me. At least Hogan got the details of the screwjob right this time. Even when it was run as an angle the too many countless times it was in WWE they usually ran clips of the event to catch up those who might not be in the know. The announcers would reference it all the time. TNA does not have that luxury and if they were to mention it, it would only push fans to look more towards the WWE to see what happened/is happening on that front.

I don't really follow WCW anymore but I saw a link on youtube and it said 'Kurt Angle gets screwed'. Curious to see what that was about and fearing it would be another Survivor Series-copy, I watched the video. Not only was it poorly executed, the exact same things happend!
AJ counters a submission and Earl Hebner calls for the bell. AJ quickly walks out without celebrating. And out comes the big chief. Now at this point I thought to myself 'If Angle is going to spit on him, I riot'. And what do you know, Angle spat on Hogan. The only thing missing is Angle knocking him out in the lockerroom.
Now once again, I don't follow WCW so I can't really say anything about the show. But this segment deserves all the criticism it gets. This is some of the most uninspired bullshit I have ever seen.

Seriously..i just don't get the point. I have no problems with a 'screwjob' storyline whatsoever. But why copy the exact thing, WHY WHY WHYY?Why not give it your own twist. You would think TNA is destroying WWE in the ratings and are mocking them or something. I almost couldn't believe that was real.

I think we're supposed to be mad at Hogan and Bischoff both on a kayfabe level for screwing Angle out of the title, and also on a "worked-shoot" sort of level where we're mad at them for stealing the idea from Vince McMahon, the same idea related to a storyline that is going on in WWE right now. There's a reason why they showed the fans chanting "six sides" to open this week's Impact, and I'm starting to think the whole "lecture" that the production crew gave the Impact Zone was a bit of reverse psychology designed to stir them up, because it's becoming increasingly clear that they want the fans against Hogan and Bischoff. Not to be nitpicky, but the WWE storyline angle that you're referring to ended a while ago. I didn't like the screwjobs the WWE did the first 15 times after the original, and I didn't particularly care for this one either. But as it is TNA, they *might* put a different spin on it rather than the same old same old you'd get "up north".

All this crap Hogan is doing in his TNA despotism is making it blatantly clear he has not idea what the f*** he's doing. YES, even the most jaded smark gives you that Hogan was a big draw in the 80s and 90s. What is often overlooked is that Hulk is an entirely different buisness man from a Vince or Bischoff. Hulk knows how to make Hulk (and Hulk's buddies) money, first and foremost. He knows how to flex his creative control muscle, milk naive companies out of millions of dollars, and hog the spotlight for half an hour doing his stupid poses. He DOES NOT have one inkling of how to run a wrestling company, book a solid program, or do what Vince or Bischoff do- it totally shows. Nevermind that everytime he tried to do anything without minds like Vince or E behind him he failed (Hulkamania tour, CCW, trying to do his own wrestling company)- they need to take the reins away from this guy so we can stop seeing him essentially rub shit in Vince's face by reenacting integral scenes from WWE's evil commissioner to placate his own ego. Stop letting Hulk make Hulk money, and run your business Ms. Carter.

If this is a story building up to 'Hogan is ruining TNA' I'll be really sad. Namely because it will just scream 'OUR COMPANY IS FAKE!!!' to the audience. Because you will then be asking the audience to hate the fact that TNA BOOKED an uninspired copy of the Screwjob. You'll be asking them to hate the fact that they had Morley 'go over' Daniels etc.
If they were going this way, I really wish Russo would just realise the general audience really doesn't care about worked shoots.
But I don't think they are going this way on reflection. Because if that was the case, they'd have to make everything Hogan related be bad. Flair/AJ is a good pairing. Kennedy is a good signing, as is Kendrick. Sure Jordan, Morley and the Nasties aren't great, but not everyone's perfect. Perhaps the Screwjob ending really was TNA's genuine attempt to create some buzz...
