Okay. Permit me to be a geek/nerd/smark/over-obsessed internet fan here for a minute, but I have a complaint.
Now, Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Ric Flair's theme since like, forever. It's in the public domain. Just like "Pomp and Circumstance". Which was used for Randy Savage's theme in WWF. All of this means that TNA can use the song, and never, ever, have to pay any money for it's use or worry about any legal fees.
So why...just WHY...did they feel the need to waste money to make a rock version of the song?!
I'm sorry, but the song is synonymous with Ric Flair. I'd be willing to bet five bucks if someone remade 2001: A Space Odyssey, they wouldn't go out and spend whatever cash they have to get a cover of the song done. They'd use the original. This...I'm not feeling it.
Anyone else?

I think an all guitar version would be kinda cool.
Love the opening

I don't mind it at all, actually.
As for wasting money...well, that is the hallmark of the Bischoff/Hogan era, is it not?

Maybe there is some legal reason, perhaps although the song is public domain, associating it with the character of ric flair would infringe some copywright.
WWF did the same thing when he went from wcw to wwf they had this version:

WWF did the same thing when he went from wcw to wwf they had this version: That is a much superior theme than Flair's current TNA one. When I think of Flair, I don't picture cheesy electric guitar playing in the background. Maybe it was the quickest thing Dale Oliver could come up with.

I don't have any problems with the new Flair theme... it's pretty much the same treatment that TNA gave the Macho Man theme.

While Sprach Zarathrusta is a Public Domain song, most of the well known recordings and arrangements are not. So it makes sense to avoid any legal problems by making your own recording and arrangement of the song.
Also, that actually sounds really cool. No complaints.

I like it. It shows TNA not just piggy backing on Flair but trying to make him a part of TNA legitimately.
Also, Flair trash-talking to the camera = win. I've missed that since WCW went down.

Yep, this is the correct answer right here. The song itself is public domain, but individual recordings of it become the property of whoever recorded it. This is also the reason why a few years back, TNA's Team Canada had an electric guitar recording of O Canada. The national anthem is public domain, but TNA recorded a version of it that they could claim ownership of.

Color me shocked TNA couldn't use a shot of David Flair shaking his head in disgust in his video.
