I was watching the Jeff Jarrett DVD, and the match against Monty Brown from the FSN days came on.
Having never seen the FSN shows, I was surprised to see a title bar, with the names of the wrestlers at the top, and the time remaining in the match. At the bottom, they had a ticker which ran down the card for the next PPV, telling people when it was and how to order it.
Am I crazy, or would this be great to bring back?
The names across the top would be good for new viewers, especially those who are channel-surfing. The time limit would help with the time limit draws they have been having lately, and they could build up a bit of excitement as the match neared the end, rather than just having it end out of nowhere.
Promoting the card for the next PPV (assuming they announce a few matches in advance) would surely help, and they could even mention things that are coming up later that night.
Especially if they are going to go against Raw, the more information available at a glance the better, IMO.

Yes, i used to love that in the early days. It was a great way to learn and remember names when i first started watching TNA, and is one of the few kayfabe things they can do to make it seem more like sport and still be productive.

But they would need to bring back Larry Zbyszko of the championship committee to declare the winner in the case of a time limit draw. ;D
I can see how having the names at the top would benefit some of the younger unknown guys, but it would seem silly to have "AJ vs Angle" at the top of the screen.

I used to love the title bar from FSN. It gave the show a "realistic" feel to it, since having the timer and competitors names on screen was similar to a baseball or basketball game. Not that I think wrestling needs to strive for realism, but it really stood out as being unique to me since it is something WWE, WCW, or even ECW never did. It was something that was distinctly TNA.

I do like it; gives a feeling of statistics.
Something else that I like, on a somewhat-related note, is something that ROH did for Final Battle; they gave stats for each wrestler such as "0-1 in ROH World Title Matches" and things like that...
Can we do that?

WWE has the News ticker during Raw AM, and still have live show event listings during Raw still. I would like a return of the time limit and name bar. Maybe it would work since Hogan wants to be more MMA. A info bar might even help with a stupid match like king of the mountain.

A thing with the names up there the whole time seems stupid. Maybe pop up when the bell rings, when they come back from break, when times running low, or when the match ends to show the final time... but seems like useless clutter to me.

Here's an example, Monty Brown vs. Jeff Hardy. FoxBox starts at 1:56

It's one of those things that I liked when it was there, but as soon as they left FSN I didn't miss it.

Makes me think of the 'pop-up' notes that used to appear on the early CHIKARA tapes.

I like the idea of the ticker at the bottom, but not if it ran the whole match. At a certain point, it became really distracting during a match. Although it'd be cool if they did a show like the do Cops 2.0 on G4, where you have people commenting on the action during the show.

I was actually thinking about the old FSN ticker during Monday's show.
It would've been helpful to have a news ticker during the last Impact, saying stuff like "Jeff Hardy returns to Impact Zone after Steel Asylum match, lays out Homicide" and "Ric Flair arrived at 8:42pm EST, is talking backstage in dressing room of TNA World Champ A.J. Styles".
Maybe a ticker could be annoying during a wrestling show, but they do work in catching the eye of people flipping channels.

It worked strictly as a Fox Sports Net thing, because it was on a sports channel. Put it on Spike TV and it seems out of place.
