Maybe I'm getting old, but both shows seemed like they were designed almost exclusively to hype stuff and had little actual wrestling content. I kept flipping back and forth to see something even more dull on the other channel. TNA seemed like it was all Hogan, who looks more like Santa than ever (anyone who doesn't think his storyline is dominating absolutely everything in the promotion must not be paying attention to the look and feel of the shows). WWE had a variety of stuff but seemed to show endless Wrestlemania promo packages and recaps. Both shows were phenominally dull, unfocused, and commercial filled. For TNA, I miss the one-hour Impact, which seemed to provide alot more action and focus than the rudderless Monday Impact. For WWE, the endless trailers and hype videos made me wish they'd stick NXT on Mondays and make THAT their main program. I may be impatient but both companies are poorly utilizing a 2 hour format by filling it with waste and time killers instead of matches. If this is the "great television" that the new Monday night war will produce, I'll stick with NXT and Smackdown.

Since I only watched half of each, I'll admit I enjoyed Raw more. The only thing i liked with Impact was the X title match, and even that annoyed me because the wrong guy won. and {Spoiler}Screw Jeff and Van Dam. I have no interest in watching either of their overrated asses on TV again.

TNA was EPIC tonight. {Spoiler}The beating Sting gave RVD was nothing short of legendary. That man was on a RAMPAGE for a good while. That alone made iMPACT! beautiful. And honestly, I never tire of seeing Ric Flair bleed, and I LOVE seeing Hogan bleed. Everything else was a bonus. I missed a fair deal of RAW, but have it on my DVR. What I could manage to see, I wasn't impressed by.

TNA not doing much on the wrestling front (though I do give credit for the X-Division three way and the main event tag) was no surprise, but Raw still not doing much wrestling is getting a little irritating.
-Divas tag was short and bland. -Bourne vs. Regal was a special "foregone conclusion" match -McMahon/Cena was the evil boss gauntlet special -ShoMiz vs. Starship Truthers wasn't even a match
Legacy/Orton was the only thing that stood out match wise.

Other than that I think they really canceled each other out as far as content goes...but next week Raw SHOULD blow TNA out of the water. && oh yeah the lighting at the end of Raw was nothing short of EPIC.

I watched a bit of Impact between commercials, and it was as godawful as ever.

Raw was average. Nothing particularly bad, or really bad at all, but nothing outstanding and the typically great Mania building wasn't as well done here.
Impact reminded me of WCW in it's dying days...two or three decent, really good things held back by the monumental badness of everything else. Even if it pops a good rating, a few more shows like that and Dixie will be running back to Thursdays.

Impact was great, IMO. Felt like an old Nitro (the good kind....think 96-98). Unpredictable, fast paced, can't miss a minute, surprise returns/debuts, etc.
Didn't watch Raw so can't comment, but I really enjoyed Impact.

As a Canadian I never got to experience the original Monday night wars the way the rest of you did, so I watched both out of curiosity.
Impact sucked. Too many promos, too many old dudes I don't give a shit about , and not enough wrestling. Like someone else said, the good thing about it was the X title match. This is the first episode of TNA I've watched in three years, and it'll likely be the last one I watch for a long time.
Raw was mediocre, but it's been so for the better part of 8 years, so at least I can't say I'm disappointed.

minus the Criss Angel stuff i enjoyed Raw. Next week should be a good/great episode if we get clean finishes in the 3 matches made

I didn't watch Raw, but Impact was pretty good. I know the WWE has to hype their other shows, but over the last few weeks, I've grown tired of being told every 3 minutes that NXT is on tuesday nights. In fact, I really haven't enjoyed RAW since the Guest host deal started (although I liked when Jesse Ventura hosted).

I flipped between the two, I mainly watched Impact, Raw just didn't really have anything going on I cared about, it seemed pretty average to me and just another Wrestlemania buildup show with nothing new happening. I thought the first hour of Impact was pretty freaking good, the second hour wasn't that great, but not horrible. I didn't like all of the focus on Hogan. Also the lacking of a match I wanted to see upsetted me a little too. But atleast this week's show wasn't a complete disaster like the January 4th show. I saw the 3 matches along with the guest host for Raw, it should be an epic a$$whooping by Raw next week. I am looking forward to that show.

I'm about 3/4 through iMPACT now, and I'm inclined to agree. Raw was boring, and TNA is just sucking so far.

I couldn't disagree more at least for one of the shows.
I thought Impact was great. Finally characters are starting to emerge and things are leading somewhere. It just felt exciting. Yes, wrestling can be exciting in case we forgot. The Jan 4th show never really clicked but this one did. I am filling in on what I missed with RAW...and it sucked. No I shouldn't say it sucked. Sucking would be actually be something. But it's just there like a dog crapping on your floor. Nothing you can do but clean it up and forget about it. And these are suppose to be WWE's best shows leading to WM.

I started off watching RAW with the promo between HBK and The Undertaker. Good promo as expected. Started to watch TNA and I was switching back and forth for a little while. Eventually TNA held my interest long enough to stick with their show. Ted DiBiase and Randy Orton are boring in the ring. When I caught that I immediately changed it back to TNA.

I'm about 3/4 through iMPACT now, and I'm inclined to agree. Raw was boring, and TNA is just sucking so far. I didn't think TNA's stories sucked, just their implimentation. For every good spot they did, they did something wrong in the others. I went into specifics on another thread, but they just simply have people in control that refuse to translate anything into the right way of doing things in the wrestling business. Formulas and procedures are in place for a reason, and breaking them hurt your show. Impact had about 3 weeks of different ideas smashed into one show. Raw does everything right, but is bland and boring creatively. If the two could merge, wrestling would boom again.
