...of an hour of "video dating" programming? This is my first time watching it, and I get that they're trying to build new stars etc., but these sitdown vignettes just scream of -

I do think it is more ECW than WWECW is with the video packages and internet comments

Better they give the new talent a chance to explain what they're about and for the audience to get to know them with these vignettes. It's a really simple way to use what WWE is great at (video production) to get these guys over, rather than a random FCWer getting chucked on ECW with no introduction. Previously they could get over by i) matches, ii) a rare promo, or iii) an Abraham Washington appearance. Far better that the full might of the WWE production crew is behind these guys.

Never seen it but it can't be worse than when Hawkins & Ryder joined Edge and were talking about thier new names and one of them said they enjoy walks on the beach. Nor could it be worse than Ryder's dream sequence with whoever it was. Eve maybe.

3:30, SRS Seth Green is SRS.
I can kind of see how it might seem dating-ish, but when you're trying to get someone familiar with the crowd in a short amount of time, your options are limited.

nah, they do that on all "reality shows". It's of the look/feel of the show to stand out from Raw/Smackdown.
It's called a talking head (see Office when it cuts away from a scene to the character's commentary).
