I'm calling it now, and I understand the silliness of making a prediction two weeks into the show. I just want to be the first to say it, because I think I'm going to turn out right. If I'm wrong, you have my permission to link to this topic and mock me relentlessly. Here's my reasoning: Yes, Daniel Bryan is the focus of the show. And yes, he'll get brought up fairly soon after it's over. But Otunga has gotten them media interest, and the WWE thrives on that. They've always wanted to be accepted. Not to mention, having Otunga on the show would give them an opportunity to have an Oscar winning actress as a guest host. And they'll milk that for all it's worth. They can call Bryan up at any time. They HAVE to strike while the iron's hot with Otunga. So barring some kind of strange tie ending, I can't see Otunga losing. I do think a week or so later, Miz will make an open challenge for his US belt, Bryan will respond and win it.

I disagree - Barrett will.
Otunga just plain isn't very good, and I don't see anything coming of him.

I don't think it's about whether he's good or not.

I don't think it's a "one winner" deal. I think what's happening is that the 7 Pros vote on whether each Rookie gets a deal with one of the major shows or not, so they could have all 8 called up, they could have 0.

Otunga's "Hollywood-ness" comes across as extremely obnoxious and unlikable, but not in a creative way like the Miz. Besides, Jennifer Hudson's fanbase doesn't watch wrestling anyway.

Rumor at one time was there would be a winner moved to RAW, a winner to Smackdown and the next two or three would return for the following season.

I was actually the first to publicly call it, but I never made a thread about it.
But yeah, I agree, Otunga is a big, muscle head (which makes Vince's pants tight) with decent personality and looks comfortable on the camera. Not to mention all they do is talk about his wife, so I see him as a lock for the winner.

heels can be written into a show much easier than faces. so i would say Justin Gabriel has a far better chance of winning for that reason alone. Bryan is too predictable though.

IMHO,David Otunga sucks. His charisma reminds me of Bobby Lashley. He will be pushed because of his size and who his fiancee is. I agree with some of the posters here:Wade Barrett is awesome,Daniel Bryan is awesome, even that Darren guy is awesome( or kind of won me over for carrying Otunga to a good match the other night),and oh yeah The Miz is Awesome!

Otunga's been recognized by MTV News as one of the NXT wrestlers; he just tweeted that he's done an interview with them and also E! News as well. Even if he doesn't get chosen as the #1 guy out of the crew, he's got a lot of media exposure to help him out.

. Bryan is too predictable though. How often does WWE care about not being predictable.

Otunga will make the WWE more money than any of the others.

Last night they only mentioned her once as far as I remembered for the first time Otunga's a big guy who looks like he's picking up the craft fast but based on his selling last night am I the only one who thinks he would be a better face? Dunno maybe's it just because Young's the definition of Unlikeable but he looked way too much like the face in peril if he's supposed to be a heel

I don't think it's a "one winner" deal. I think what's happening is that the 7 Pros vote on whether each Rookie gets a deal with one of the major shows or not, so they could have all 8 called up, they could have 0. Rumor at one time was there would be a winner moved to RAW, a winner to Smackdown and the next two or three would return for the following season. I think that it would be a waste to do it that way. I'd have a contract winner for both shows as singles workers, two runner-ups forced to be a tag team for a year, and the rest can get invited back for the next season. This way you do not build someone up and not use them (as the formula you presented would), and you can have some interesting storylines that come out of it. - The two forced to tag for a year can be opposites who cannot stand being in a team together (think of the Hardy/MVP team with more animosity). - In the previous example, you can have one of them can even draw serious heat by offering to swap spots with one of the ones who did not get a roster spot figuring that he would be a shoe-in to win a singles spot at the end of the season that he swaps back into (which can piss off that season's mentors). - Some of the ones who have to come back are pissed about it. Some are confused. An underdog type like Slater can look at it like a learning opportunity (an attitude that will likely get them more fans the second time around). - There can be a rule where someone can only get invited back twice, so some heel that just cannot get along with any mentors could be in serious risk in Season 3 of running out of chances.

All the new guys on NXT suck except for Danielson & Barrett. Also, Michael Tarver is ok because at least he has some type of gimmick and has a Bad News Brown look to him. The rest suck, Otunga reminds me of Lashley like someone else here said. He has no charisma whatsoever, and is only going to get by because of who he's married to.
