I think that was a worked botch. There should be more worked botches, actually. It helps disguise the real ones. Could see that being right. I only watched it once, so maybe I missed it, but it looked like one foot legitimately missed and the match ended shortly thereafter which often happens after a legit botch. I could be wrong, though. I watched it a couple of times, and I saw that he was able to get enough air to flip himself over onto his back for the landing. That, and the way they went immediately to the ending tells me that it was probably a worked botch.

I think whoever produced that segment should get credit for thinking of that spot, as it makes Bryan look brave for trying the spot even though his body couldn't hold up. It also doesn't make Bryan look weak for getting pinned by another Rookie who has less wrestling experience than he does.
I try to look at segments like this from the perspective of an 11-year-old who just became a fan around last WrestleMania. If they had no prior knowledge of Bryan's wrestling background, would this segment build him up in their eyes? I think it would.

Only thing he has going against him is his look. His big head and the goofy smile. As one of the people who never followed him before NXT, I have to say that his look is kind of endearing to me. And not in an "awww, look at the poor little guy!" like with Rey, either. He comes off as legit in a way that some of the more polished-looking guys don't. He's short, but he's bulky. But that bulk isn't chiseled, it's just functional. He's a bit dorky-looking, but his confidence tempers that into more of a feeling that he's a normal person who's very, very good at his sport. Everything about him comes off as genuine, and I love it. In pro wrestling, where everything is artifice, the ability to project legitimacy is rare and precious.

I've never seen or heard of the guy before NXT, and quite frankly I agree with everything The Miz said (both kayfabe-wise, and real life wise). He has some decent wrestling abilities, but there's nothing about him that stands out character wise. I mean, how many wrestlers have the same tights with shin guards look? Just off the top of my head I count Jericho, Miz, Kingston & Punk. But it's still early so maybe he'll change my opinion.

I don't like how so many people say "He doesn't have a good look." What do looks have to do with anything? Michael jordan doesn't look like larry bird , that doesn't mean larry bird or michael jordan aren't great basketball players.
This is "Sports entertainment" , right? In what other sports do you look at a guy and go "Oh well he can't be that good in this sport because he looks like that." Come on man...Look at football. Jerome Bettis is fat, he's also like third on the all time rushing list.
Looks have nothing to do with skill in real life and they shouldn't define how you judge someone as a wrestler. He can either wrestle or he can't...I don't care how he looks as long as he's a great wrestler and daniel bryan is a great wrestler.
/Rant.

This is called Sports "Entertainment." The difference between real sports and pro wrestling is that the people in real sports are paid to perform a certain task. People don't care if a basketball player looks like Rikishi's ass, if he's 7'6 and can score 50 points a game at will, guess what...he's going to be getting paid. On the other hand, with pro wrestling, looks do in fact matter. I'm not saying that everyone has to look like a super model....but it's no coincidence that 2 of the most over Superstars in recent years (Cena and Jeff Hardy) are quite popular with the ladies. The same could be said for The Rock and HBK in the past. Guys who maybe weren't that good with the ladies made up for it with charisma and personality. That's where guys like Undertaker, Austin, Foley, and HHH come in. At this point, Bryan has neither. But it's still early.

I really don't think that was a botch. Assuming we're talking about him falling off the ropes right before the end of the match, I think it was. 1. I don't recall him selling his stomach after the fall. I would think if it was a planned fall it would have been accompanied with him clutching his stomach or something selling that it was the reason he fell. 2. Jericho immediately covered for it saying something about how he only fell because of the injury. The way he said it was very benevolent which was counter to his attitude towards Bryan on commentary the rest of the match. I had a couple people over so I was only half ass watching it at the time, so apologies if what I stated above is way off...I didn't rewatch it. IMO it was a botch. Didn't know we had fake botches as a cover up for IWC favorites. Wade Bartett impresses me the most. The guy with R-Truth, Can't remember his name is 2nd best on there.

Danielson did grab his side as soon as he fell
