These days. I don't mean to rant but let's face it, nobody can have a believable title reign, no matter who you are. Why? Because WWE will never put anybody over Cena, Orton, Batista and Triple H clean. It just won't happen. I've realized that in Sheamus' reign, he had the belt sure but he wasn't getting pushed. Anybody can beat MVP and Christian, what he needed most was to look strong against the above guys and he didn't. He won the matches in flukery fashion and it made him look really bad.
So with that said, no matter how much people want to see guys like Christian, MVP, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston and even Chris Jericho have believable title reigns, think again. Jericho's reign looks good now but the guy couldn't even win it clean, I realize he's a heel but his reign is already not even being booked strong. It never is, his title reigns have been transitional at best and he always lost it right back to the above guys when he won it. CM Punk is the exact same, he can't look strong against those guys, because they simply won't do it.
The only way we're ever going to have a "realistic" roster, with realistic champions, is if all of these guys except maybe Orton get out of the company. Am I right on this?

If your facts are straight you are right... I haven't been watching long enough to verify. numbers would help, times a title holder not on the list above defended cleanly against someone on the list above.
definitely a fair point.

Heh...not many of Orton's own reigns have been "believable" or "legit" now that you mention it.
I mean...which one of them was supposed to cement him as a legit main event talent? The one week, two day, one month or ten day reign? I know...I'm exaggerating on the shortness of the reigns, but that's what they all felt like....mere holdovers until Hunter took the belt back eventually.

Yeah, I'd probably say the No Mercy 07 - Backlash 08 was his best reign. He went over Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, Cena and Triple H in a triple threat all clean.

Too many PPVs when there really aren't enough over characters. It worked in the attitude Era when you had enough guys over (Rock, Austin, Foley, Taker, Kane, Angle, Show, whatever), but it cannot right now and they only solution they see is to interchange it between the guys who are somewhar over.

Yeah...and wasn't that the match HHH got hurt in or something? I can't quite remember, but it seems like there was an injury or something that kept Hunter from immediately dethroning Orton.

No, Triple H just rerailed into the Umaga and Jeff Hardy feuds there for awhile.

The thing that kills it for me is not the way it's booked these days, but instead I keep thinking, "Why oh why would anyone fight for THAT belt?". The belt kills all seriousness for me.
