We always here that the announcers talk to the wrestlers earlier in the day to get their thoughts on the match, but do they really talk to them? And if so then why don't we get to see the interviews?

Ive seen one interview in history, WWE Extreme Rules 2009 where i think Todd Grisham said he spoke with Big Show earlier in the day and this is what he had to say....and they showed it, but every other time i think they just say it to be "cool" especially michael cole, but it wouldn't surprise me if matt striker talked to them before each show.

Well, they are backstage for hours on end so I would imagine they do talk with each other, as for the comments actually being from the wrestlers, I would put that at 50-50. Some are a little too good to not be from the wrestlers while others sound like lines fed to them from Vince.

Nope. I was watching 24/7 a while back, it was an old WCW Nitro. Prince Iaukea was jumped before a match and when he came out Bobby Heenan said he talked to Iaukea when he arrived in the arena...already hurt. Except he WASN'T hurt when he arrived to the arena...he was attacked right before the match It was then that I realized that not only is wrestling fake, but so are the backstage lives of the commentators.

(Earlier in the day. Michael Cole tries to track down Triple H for an interview)
Michael Cole: "Hey Hunter! Can I ask you a few questions?"
Triple H: (walking by, not looking in Cole's direction) "f*** OFF!"
(Later that night on RAW)
Michael Cole: "I spoke to Triple H earlier today, and he was very focused on this match tonight."

No, this is something announcers have said since atleast the early 90's. Its just to add "character" to the wrestlers, and make it seem like the announcers all hang out with them.

John Madden used to talk about how he would speak to players before games and things like that. WWE probably has announcers say that stuff to make it seem a little more legit.

I hate when they say that. But nothing is worse than Michael Cole's constant "_____ is rolling!, can he keep it up when we return after the break?" and the heel ALWAYS has the face in a headlock or a chinlock when they return.
