While sifting through my old VHS tapes I worked my way to Final Four and WM13 era... My question is what was the original plan for these two PPV's?
Seems like Bret winning at IYH and dropping the belt the next night to Sid was kind of random... I've heard the Shawn refusing to job to Bret thing but how would the IYH played out if this was the plan?
Thanks in advance.

Wasn't it suppose to be Bret and Shawn again at WM 13, with Shawn returning the favor to Bret for WM 12? I suppose at that point you could keep Undertaker/Sid, but I don't know what you would do at that point with Stone Cold? Have him wrestle Rocky Maivia for the IC Title?

it was suppose to be a rematch and Shawn was suppose to return the favor but refused This. HBK and Bret were headed for a showdown at Wrestlemania 13, but HBK "lost his smile" and gave up the belt which pissed Bret off. Undertaker agreed with Bret in believing he was trying to get out of doing the job. I read that Austin was meant to win the Final Four, but blown out his knee. So they changed it to Bret winning the strap as he'd go on to drop the belt to Sid the next night.

I heard it was Vader who was originally supposed to win, but he bladed after being specifically told not to, so they called an audible mid-match.

I believed Bret's one day reign was planned the day Shawn "lost his smile". Russo was probably flexing his creative muscles by having his first (of many) Wrestler has a 1 day title reign story chapters..Bret wins, IIRC Austin screwed Bret the next day out of the belt thus adding more fuel to the Austin-Hart match in Chicago...and I recall seeing Taker involve himself in the match as well, thus setting up the Sid-Taker title match.

Bret vs Shawn II... what might've been...
Weird to think that it was Bret's last WrestleMania... especially considering how much happened before Montreal.
