I was watching a bit of Miami Vice earlier today and it got me to thinking, since we've already seen GTA go back to Liberty City and greatly expand upon it's mythos, through a great game and two nice add-ons, would you like a next gen ticket back to the 80's? I know you can't really catch lightning in a bottle twice, but I think it'd be fun to do it again on 360 or PS3. The new water physics and all, new vehicles, and a sweet soundtrack all over again. Although, I'd accept a modern Vice City in lieu of a 1980's neon one (but what I really want is the neon again).
What do you think, yay or nay?

I hate the 80's, but Vice City's soundtrack was awesome. Love Fist kicked ass!

Yes I'd love to go back to Vice City. Also, I wouldn't mind it being set in modern times but ONLY if they had a throw back radio station featuring 80's music.

I'm a huge GTA rockstar fan so I'd be pumped for just about any new installment. Though it might be even more fun to set a game in Las Venturas during the 30s and 40s

I think I'd also like to see a snow-type city once. Like something up in the mountains like Denver. I think it would be a nice change of scenery.

It's from Rockstar and comes out later this year. It takes place in the 40s. What I've seen so far is pretty amazing stuff. I would love the 80s again. I wish they'd make Vice City a permanent 80s city.

Depends.
Part of what made Vice City so fun was that it was so over-the-top.
If it's "realistic" the way GTA4 was................pass.

Not really. As much as I liked the two games, we've had anough games taking place in Liberty and Vice (keep in mind Vice City was also present in GTA Advanced, the overlooked GBA game). I wish Rockstar would give us a new town already.
Also, I'd love to see a GTA game (or at least some sort of spin-off) taking place in Carcer City (the town Manhunt takes place in).

I think they should do one in a Vegas style city or one in somewhere like a city from Northern England.

Maybe I should keep thinking of cool games Rockstar should do since last time I said they should make a game in the old west and was informed that they already were.

There was a fairly big article about it in Game Informer a few months back (it was even the cover story). I don't know if you can track it down, but if you can it may be worth it. They are really going all out for it and are doing a lot of motion capture work for it. It takes place in LA (duh) but they are making sure that it's an accurate representation of the era - so you could look in store windows and see products from the era, etc. It looks absolutely beautiful.

The Ballad of Gay Tony is the only GTA IV installment I'm yet to finish. I know the idea behind that episode was to go back to the over-the-top action from the previous GTA games and give us some more of those mildly amusing diversions such as base jumping and skydiving, but I really preferred the more serious tone of GTA IV and The Lost and Damned. Gay Tony's main problem for me is that it has a hard time making me care about what's going on in the main storyline.
As for Vice City... eh, I don't know. GTA: Vice City was great back in the day, but I'm not sure if I want to see a new game set in Vice even if they redesign the city completely like they did with Liberty.

Vice City is still my favorite GTA game. I'd love to see a new one, especially if it's set in the '80s (which is just as vital to the Miami-esque setting as the early '90s were to the Los Angeles and greater southwest-inspired San Andreas).
I would like to see a new city and time period at some point though. Maybe a "swinging London" style '60s Grand Theft Auto.

Maybe a "swinging London" style '60s Grand Theft Auto. Well, there's the GTA: London 1969 expansion pack for the original Grand Theft Auto, it was released in 1998 or so... ...what do you mean that doesn't count? ;D
