6 (And A Half) Reasons Why Dragonball: Evolution Isn't THAT BadOk, so this is pretty much yet another shameless plug for my blog but this is my newest article. After spending my first Mega Movie Review ripping apart a movie with a cult following (I think?), I decided to defend a movie that most consider one of the worst ever made. I watched it and didn't think it was all that bad. Was it good? No. Do my reasons really make all that much sense? No. Are they based in any sort of fact? Hell no! But just read it anyway, if only to see what Chow Yun-Fat REALLY should've looked like as Master Roshi. (Oh yeah, Language Warning)

Chow Yun Fat was great in the movie. Because he was the only actor who realized what movie he was in.

Looking at it outside the viewpoint of a Dragon Ball fan (which I'll admit I am), it's a servicable little action movie for kids. Not offensively bad, but not great aside from poking fun at it.
For the DBZ devoted, it does get a few things right and wrong at the same time.

Did the movie have King Furry? (I don't know anything about Dragonball, I just think the idea of having a dog as King of the Earth is fantastic.)

I loved it. Yeah, it's a bomb. Sure, no one else likes it. But I still love it all the same. I just wish it had been a good thirty minutes or so longer.

Movie was total shit and any future anime based movies that pulls a Dragonball: Evolution is doomed to fail. When making an anime film, you pretty much have to make it with the fans of the series in mind. Why? Cause unlike comic books or video games, where the mainstream populace may know about the property the film is based on, when it comes to anime, the general populace clumps all anime together as "those cartoons from Japan" and since a good chunk of said populace think all anime is either made for kids or is just porn, the general populace won't give an anime film a chance. Thus the fans of the series are the only ones who WILL see it, and if the movie doesn't even remotely look to be faithful to the series, it'll bomb.
