Love horror hosts. Got started back during Elvira's show with such classics as The Mighty Gorga, Meateater and Zombie Child. First became aware of Zacherle/Zacherly when he hosted a videotape of bad movie trailers/scenes called Horrible Horror. About 10 years back, one of the local stations showed some then-recent show called Off Beat Cinema, hosted by a group of beatniks. Only caught a couple of eps, but was fun to harken back to the days. I wish Shout!Factory would release more Elvira Movie Macabre titles but I guess the first 6 didn't sell well . Horrible Horror is a great tape. How I miss Goodtimes Home Video. Offbeat Cinema is still airing on Retro Television Network on late Saturday nights after Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In. Didn't think I'd care for crappy horror movies hosted by 1950s beatniks but it's surprisingly entertaining and fun.

They used some really bad sources for them and it was obvious. The Gamera movie they included was a multi-generational dub with so many VHS errors in it, it wasn't even funny. While I'm glad SF has gotten their act together since then, those early discs of theirs were crap.

SF's MST discs are fine, why did they do a poor job with the Elvira ones? Not enough experience?

While I'm glad SF has gotten their act together since then, those early discs of theirs were crap. You're right. Count Dracula's Great Love, The Werewolf of Washington and Legacy of Blood (the ones I can remember) were very poor quality prints. But I overlooked it cause I just wanted to watch Elvira's host segments.

SF's MST discs are fine, why did they do a poor job with the Elvira ones? Not enough experience? When Shout Factory first came to my notice, they were little more than just-a-tad-above a bargain bin public domain company and were releasing some pretty awful stuff quality-wise. By the point they got the MST3k license, they had gone legit and focused on higher quality.

Hah, my friend and I actually caught some Off Beat Cinema a few months back, I think it was on the Retro Channel as well, but don't hold me to that. I think he said they actually broadcast out of Buffalo, since that's his stomping grounds. Crazy. And EDIT, indeed they do, and you were right, Kell, they are on the Retro Channel. May need to make some time to catch it sometime. Also, Triple Kelly, you are awesomesauce! ;D

Another vote for me with Joe Bob Briggs and MonsterVision. My heart broke when they emasculated the show toward the end and he got stuck with chick flicks as either the first or last movie in the bills. But oh shows like The Kiss and two of the Howling movies.
Yes, he absolutely should be back. After all, the drive in will never die.
