What would you say the worst dystopia in films was, the wall-e world or the idiocracy world? Even though i still havent seen idiocracy, from what ive heard it would at least be livable, wall-e would be much, much worse (unless we're discussing the end of the film).

Considering the popularity of "Wipeout" (I like it, but it's basically Ow My Balls) and what a lot of modern fast food is like, we've got a little bit of Idiocracy today.
The WALL-E future seems a lot less likely.

How about A Clockwork Orange? A world were youngsters are so out of control that groups of them murdering, bludgeoning and raping are a common thing? Not to mention recent stuff I heard in the news are creepily close to this story.

The "Demolition Man" future seems pretty bad also, but maybe the least likely of a lot of future concepts in movies.

The "Demolition Man" future seems pretty bad also, but maybe the least likely of a lot of future concepts in movies. Pros: Every restaurant being Taco Bell Cons: The three seashells...especially after going to Taco Bell

Living in the Wall-E world (even though I haven't seen it) seem sto be the most depressing future. But Idiocracy, while it is a bad future, would at least be livable.

I love dystopias... Worst (and most smelly): Soylent Green (especially for old people and women who have to kind of be slaves of young-middle aged men). The worst thing about this one is that it still seems so very likely, that we're using up all our resources without much thought for what happens when the resources we're drawing from can no longer support our lifestyles. Most fun: Rollerball (cool death game, awesome parties where you go out in nice gowns and blow up trees for no reason, the internet). Most depressing: Silent Running (the last plants every drift off into oblivion while Bruce Jenner goes crazy with robots, an obvious inspiration for MST3K) Most avoidable: {Spoiler}Planet of the Apes (As long as we don't try to kill off genius apes from the future in the most haphazard way possible and then turn apes into pets then slaves we should be all set)

I'd say Idiocracy. Even the ending is depressing, as Not Sure has 1 wife and 3 intelligent kids, his Vice President Frito has 6 wifes and 32 kids, basically showing that the future is still going to continue being bad.
Not only that, but the Highlight of Cinema that year was simply an ass on the screen that farted for an hour and a half.

I would say Robocop, but we're only about 10 years away from it (at most), and many of the bad things in it have already come to pass.

Throw Metropolis in there. Its a film that has a dystopia where people are divided with one being a luxury class and the other a toiling worker group underground. The worker group works in the hardest conditions. Its not right.

I would have to say "The Second Rennisance." Somehow, robots being forced to use waste heat from humans for basic energy needs seems like a real letdown. I mean, I know some sort of AI will be the final legacy of humanity far in the future, but I would hope it would follow the Data Career Path, of trying to learn and better oneself, not become Robot Caveman, barely clinging to existance.

Not sure what the name was but its a sci-fi movie probably mid 80's where every like 20 minutes or so this dust storm starts up and goes ballistic on the surroundings and people have built these big Macdonalds playland looking tubes sticking out the ground everywhere in case one of these storms start up. That would suck big time not being able to be outside more than 20 minutes.

Idiocracy, definitely. At least WALL*E's world is eventually getting better. The fat people can become less fat and still tend to be intelligent. Idiocracy's world remains stupid and will probably take centuries, to make halfway smart again.

Between the two...Idiocracy. Because even though it wasn't released that long ago, you can totally see what happened in that movie happening in real life. That depresses me.
Also, the world of Idiocracy is practically the world of Wall-E, except with a bunch of idiots who couldn't build robots or ships.
