Just because he made one bad call, doesn't mean he's the worst umpire ever. I still think that the call should be overturned and Galarraga be given his perfect game, but I know that won't happen, at least while Selig is around.

The irony of the Orioles being this bad? Had Bryce Harper continued normal schooling, he would have come out in the 2011 draft.

Yes. I was at the game last night. I think he's pretty nifty so far.

I'm heading to Atlanta for Rays v Braves this Tuesday...beyond stoked, as this is my first away game as a Rays fan.
Should be a solid matchup. Any other 'Crappers going to be in attendance?

Austin Jackson just got pulled after the top of the first inning. That's not good.
Only lower back spasms for Jackson. He's day-to-day.

Yeah, he's long had the reputation as one of the most consistent, accurate and fair umps in the game. He's one of the guys who is less likely to hold a grudge, unlike a LOT of the others, if you listen to retired players. A lot of retired players think, for example, that Moises Alou was probably telling the truth in 2004 when he said the umps were out to get him. Joyce has never been one of those guys.

They should've let Strasburg pitch with the bases loaded, I want to see how he handles trouble. He's good enough to not be treated with kiddie gloves like this. Although the mound was pretty much deteriorating out there so I guess they'd rather not risk injury.

Day 2 of Stephen Strasburg: 5.1, 2 hits, 1 run, 5 BB(!), 8 Ks, 11 swinging strikes, 4:4 GB:FB on 95 pitches, 52-43 strikes-balls.

If you don't think it should, then that's like your opinion man. Also, thank you very much Miguel.

The Mets finish off the Orioles with an 11-4 win. After an offday tomorrow, they'll go to Cleveland & play the Tribe for 3. Johan Santana & Justin Masterson match-up Tuesday. Mike Pelfrey started today, & he was a little unlucky: 6 IP, 9 hits, 3 runs, 3 BB, 1 K, 3 swinging strikes, 6:11 GB:FB on 101 pitches, 64-37 strikes-balls. Mop up Mejia(pitches found here), Igarashi & Valdes closed it out. Rumored to be acquired Met Kevin Millwood started, & he was kinda terrible: 5 IP, 11 hits, 8 runs, 1 BB, 4 Ks, 3 HRs allowed, 5 swinging strikes, 7:5 GB:FB on 96 pitches, 60-36. I might not want the Mets to trade for him(or really anyone for that matter). On the offense, Jason Bay had 4 hits & Chris Carter hit a homer, but it was really the David Wright show today. Dubs went 3-5 with 2 homers & a double, bringing his season total to .286/.380/.527 with 12 homers. I take it he isn't "broken" anymore?

It was a good pitcher's duel until Huff fell apart in the fifth inning.
And somebody has seriously got to straighten out Tony Sipp's head. On the last road trip, his ERA jumped five full points by virtue of allowing 12 runs in only 1.3 innings. And he started off so well too. He still had the control problems, but he wasn't giving up a lot of hits. Now it looks like he caught whatever Rafael Perez had last year.
