Regardless of the creative medium, what are some great final projects by a person or group of individuals. I have some.
In Utero-Nirvana's final studio album. Very dark at times while still having some very catchy material.
The Crow-Brandon Lee's last acting performance. Launched a franchise with some disappointing sequels, but this first movie was great.
The Renegades of Funk-Rage Against the Machine's last album (at least during their first run). Just contains cover songs, but they are brilliant covers.

If it's really Clint Eastwood's final acting role, then Gran Torino gets my vote.

The first two in the OP would be my pick.
Hell Nirvana's Unplugged performance that many people have said was Kurt's unintentional farewell.

Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight
Sure you could say his last film was The Imaginarum Of Dr Parnassis. But he never finished his part for that film.

Almost prophetic, really.

Technicaly he never finished his part for The Dark Knight but it was much more complete than that other movie I have never even heard of so I say this counts.

Whichever of Ledger's last two films you count as his true last film, he gives a good performance regardless.

Crow T. Robot
Are You Gonna Go My Way?
I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

According to Warner Brothers, Ledger had finished all his work on Dark Knight at the time of his death.

Definitely not the Supernatural Episode titled as such.
My vote goes to "Abbey Road" by The Beatles. "Let It Be" may have been released after but it was recorded before.
Even more-so, the end of the entire album with the long medley is one of my favorite Beatles things in the whole wide world.
And if we want to get really detailed with it, "The End" is the best ending I could ever hope to dream of for it, with each member getting their own little solo. Ending on the line "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" makes it just perfect. "Her Majesty" kicking in a bit later is the surprising little cherry on top.

I think I may have listened to Golden Slumbers through The End about 150 times. Since May.

And may have listened to it again just now.

Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt" particularly the music video
As for the Beatles medley mentioned earlier, I think it's awesome that on the first song of their first album, they count in 1,2,3,4 and then on their last recorded album they end with "The End" with a little snippet of "Her Majesty" just for fun
