David Allen Coe.
Never expected that.
And apparently she enjoys it because the same song has been on her Ipod for fifteen minutes.
*edit*
The conversation turned a bit from the original topic so I thought I'd just go with that instead.

Let me guess, she was listening to "I Made Linda Lovelace Gag". And no, nothing like that. "You Don't Even Call Me By My Name" actually.

That's a good start for a 6 year old.
Next up? Some Rebel Meets Rebel, perhaps.

Every other member of the family has one. I gave her my old one. There is nothing inappropriate on the Ipod. I didn't steal it nor take public money to purchase it. I'm not being bitchy I' just really confused about how it's even an issue.

Hell a 6 year old doing ANYTHING other than watching spongebob and hannah montana is great.

I also don't understand why it's an issue.
I think you're a good dad for giving your daughter something she'll get so much enjoyment out of.

Personally, as a musician, I think it's a great idea. Your daughter is going to grow up listening to different kinds of music, thanks to you introducing her to the stuff you like and what she hears on the radio. I credit a lot of not only my love of music, but a lot of my ideals in life to the music my parents played for me.
For the record, my mom introduced me to artists like Michael Jackson (and the rest of the Jackson Five), Supertramp, and The Beatles while my father prefered Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, and Eric Clapton. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

I too,do not see a problem with a 6 year old having an iPod.kid's LOVE listening and singing along to music and as a parent you can control what's on the iPod..you can't control what song's pop up on the radio.

Children shouldn't be exposed to music, it will give them ideas to try and escape the salt mines they should be working at.
Anyway, an iPod's just a hard drive that plays music. It's about as corrupting as a thumb drive. If someone puts inappropriate material onto it then, hello, they already accessed it via another medium. If you find a bomb in a bag, the bag isn't the problem.

I voted "Sure Why Not", I see no harm in it at all. Music is music, it really doesn't matter if the kid is hearing it from a stereo or an Ipod.

I personally don't think it's an issue as long as you watch what they are listening to.
