Hopefully this thread is ok for the mods as much like Pati Mayonaise is a lesbian, its all in good fun.
Anyway, I was just thinking about the 1980s transformers cartoon when it hit me. It was actually a ploy by anti-gay activist to turn children against homosexuals.
Think about it. Megatron and Starscream obviously had a thing going, where Megatron played the butch, and Starscream was the submissive secretly seeking power. Of course, this being an anti-gay cartoon they were both made to look evil. Also look at what Megatron turned into, a gun, which Starscream needed to hold in his hand and squeeze to get any use from. It isn't tough to see the symbolism there. Also, note that Starscream wasn't the only one to hold Megatron this way thus giving further reason for his jealousy and need to seek power.
Meanwhile you have the Autobots led by their leader Optimus Prime. Prime of course transforms into a big truck. After all what better way to embody traditional American values. The way things always were, the way they always should be. Because the Autobots are strictly hetero, the humans of course side with them. This is of course because the cartoon's creators viewed homosexuals as sub-human.
It is also significant to look at what they always seem to be fighting over. Energon cubes! While the Decepticons are often depicted as being selfish for overproducing energon cubes, what do energon cubes actually do? Well, they power transformers and make sure they keep going. Similarly someone afflicted with AIDs though in tremendous suffering can still keep going if they are given the right medicines. There you have the cartoons final controversial message. Homosexuals should be deprived of antibiotics just as Decepticons are deprived of energon cube.
And of course, the icing on the cake. The Autobots have a red logo remniscent of traditional STRAIGHT Americana. Meanwhile the Decepticons are of course given the effeminate purple logo.
