The dawn of Metal or the Golden Age of Metal, either way. The 70's might be famous or infamous for Disco, but damn if that time didn't put out some great heavy stuff. Sabbath, Blue Öyster Cult, Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, UFO, Judas Priest, Steppenwolf, Scorpions, ect ect. This is a thread for that type of stuff.

I really like music from the 70s a lot, including disco. As far as heavy metal music goes, there was Black Sabbath, The Scorpions, Pentagram, Lucifier's Friend, Atomic Rooster, Rainbow, etc...They were more bluesy than today's heavy metal music, but most songs were darker despite being less heavy. In the 70s, these bands didn't have the dynamic sound range as today's artists.

As far as I'm concerned, when it came to 70's rock n' roll KISS and Zeppelin ruled all.

I REALLY love Judas Priest's first album Rocka Rolla. It was unlike any of their others, but it's really damn good IMO. I lucked out and purchased most of their old records all at once at my local record store, including Rocka Rolla with the original bottle cap cover that was replaced.

Who? Sadly I bet you'd get that response from a lot of people, that is until you said "the guys who sing The Boys are Back In Town". It's sad, because Thin Lizzy has a lot of great songs you don't hear on the radio.

Don't let this thread die! Favorite Thin Lizzy song. Who knew other black people besides Jimi Hendrix where in rock bands. I didn't.
