(Because I don't feel like digging back 10 pages or so to find the previous one).
So I took advantage of Steam's July 4th sale to pick up Street Fighter IV (as I mentioned before), and also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. I'm planning on getting Call of Pripyat too, but they give you a big "loyalty" discount on that at any time if you have either of the earlier games so I didn't have to grab it while it was on sale.
Anyway, if any of you have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. before, you know that I'm hitting F7 a LOT. Sweet manatee of Galilee, this game is hard, and I'm only playing on normal difficulty (the second easiest out of four). It boggles my mind to see that a lot of the mods made for the game are devoted to making it more difficult. Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience - it really is probably the most atmospheric game I've ever played - but at the rate I'm going I'll catch up with the game's timeline (that's 2012 for those of you from the Big Land ) before I'm finished.
Meanwhile, as a sort of palette cleanser for when I need something a little more light-hearted and a little less frustrating, I've been playing Team Fortress 2. But of course, I am always playing Team Fortress 2. The angst on the Steam forums (a wretched hive of scum and villainy, surpassed only wherever the people who comment on YouTube videos hang out) over the limited-to-100 Golden Wrench promo item which is being released for the Engineer class update is truly awesome to behold. I also find it tragically hilarious that people are already posting threads over there bitching about the first new Engineer unlock (the Frontier Justice) being either overpowered or underpowered before a single person has actually used it in the game.
So, that's how I'm avoiding getting a tan. What's everybody else playing? Anybody else pick anything up from the Steam sale?
