K, I just watched the very end of Jericho pinning HHH on that Raw where they did the 'reversal' of the title change or what have ya.
I remember it being awesome at the time but maaaan, that crowd was nuts for the pin. I'm a big H fan, but they shoulda at least let Chris run with it till the next pay per view just to see if that kinda crowd excitement woulda been sustained for the long haul.
Ah well, what mighta been I guess.

I call that Jericho's phantom title reign. Shame they didn't capitalize on it.

I was so happy when Jericho won the WWF Title and so pissed when he had to give it back to Triple H. It would have been cool Jericho refused to give the WWF Title back and had Triple H and Jericho over it.

Is it on Youtube? I havem't seen it in ages. Even the Triple H mark in me was pissed when Jericho gave the title back. It was just stupid and shouldn't have been booked like that in the first place. If they had planned on throwing them in a feud together, it'd have made sense. This just pissed people off.

I remember jumping off my friend's couch screaming when that happened. That was probably the most excited I had ever been about a title change.

The Penn State crowd that night was hot for a Jericho victory and I wonder what would have happened if they had pulled the trigger on that one but the WWE didn't have any guts. What hurt even more was Jericho gave back the title like a little ***** without any real protest and then, to soothe his own ego, HHH pinned him cleanly in a tag team match at the end of the night.

I know. That sucked! They should have had Jericho refuse to give the title. That would have been a great angle.

It was 2000. Triple H didn't have much pull aside from the "kliq." Chalk this one up to a horrible idea by WWE creative, not Triple H burying someone.

Does anyone realize that Backlash 2000, which was 2 weeks after the Jericho-HHH match in question did like 600,000 buys with Rock-HHH on top? My point is they probably wouldn't have done that many with HHH-Jericho.

It's a shame that that moment didn't prove to them that they had something. Instead they gave him a heel run years later where he lost every match. Why didn't they capitalize sooner?

That "WIN" was awesome. The Crowd was so behind, Jericho. They should have kept it going for a few weeks (or at least til the next PPV). It would have been a great starter point.

I thought it was fine only if they eventually pushed Jericho to beat HHH clean at some point down the road. They didn't. They had a Last Man Standing match with Trips won.
That was definitely poor booking. For whatever reason, the WWF didn't want to push Jericho to the main event level.

I'm STILL pissed about this. They dropped the ball big time in making him give the belt back.
