I grew up watching a bunch of different wrestling companies, but the CWA (later USWA) was ALWAYS my favorite. Lance Russel and Dave Brown were a great announce team, and you had some damn good talents in Koko Ware, Jerry Lawler, Eddie Gilbert (my all time favorite), Bill Dundee, Jeff Jarrett, Jackie Fargo, Miss Texas (Jackie Moore), Downtown Bruno, Tommy Rich, Richard Lee's Moondogs, Kimala...and so many more.
Give appreciation and memories of this great territory!

Hell yes.
I love all of the guys that you listed...the only thing that sucks is that a lot of those guys are still main eventing our shows.

I admire what Macklin's trying to do, but it's not the same...by a long shot.
This is such a great angle...even the suits!

Continental was freaking AWESOME!
The Dirty White Boy/Tom Prichard feud is one of my absolute favourites of all time. Dirty White Girl's black eye, with the reaction of the announcers, and Prichard's reluctance to be taken in, suspecting a ruse all along was IMMACULATE, and one of the few times the well meaning babyface wasn't made to look a total schmuck for being pulled in.

I remember when we had "The Wrestling Channel" and they used to show classic Memphis wrestling & Modern (At the time) Wrestling.
I liked what I saw of it but the channel didn't last long (Bummer)

I wasn't born or was too young to remember the glory days of Memphis but, was around for their takeover of Dallas toward the end of our run as a powerhouse. Loved the guys they brought in and, how real most of it was.

I learned how to program a VCR because of Memphis wrestling. In Chicago, it was always on some obscure low-wattage UHF station at like 5am on a Saturday morning. If I was working Friday night, I would work harder on having a break at that time and getting a feed on the TV than actually doing my job.
Wild, crazy, always something exciting going on. Jerry Lawler was the best guy on the mic. Dave Brown and Lance Russell, classic announce team. Corey Maclin was under-appreciated.
I have a 6-hour tape where in a few matches, the Headbangers would play their heavy metal music on a boom box while they wrestled. (Gave New Jack, another guy who came through there) some ideas.)

There simply wasn't another territory like Memphis. It was corny as hell at times, especially the studio shows, but it had an identity all its own. From Kaufman to Gilbert to the birth of evil Mr. McMahon, it was responsible for some of the most entertaining heels in the industry.
Also, gotta love the hundreds upon hundreds of WTF gimmicks that came through.

Back in the mid-90s before cable came down my road, we had a satellite dish and picked up the USWA around 5 or 6pm on Saturday nights. I'm leaning toward 6 because I think I had to tape the first hour of WCW Saturday Night upstairs and watch USWA downstairs. In 1995, I was in 3rd grade and had so much wrestling to watch, WWF, WCW, ECW, and USWA. Surprised I didn't fail the 3rd grade.

Watching USWA on Saturday mornings in the mid-90's was a big part of my childhood. Like others have said corey Maclin still runs shows, but it's not the same. It's pretty cool to have saw someone like The Rock before he was The Rock.
