The seven I've picked...
LeBron James: Runs down contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, goes on worldwide TV to announce he's joining the Miami Heat.
Brett Favre: Retires from the Green Bay Packers after 16 years, via a comeback at the New York Jets, he signs for the Minnesota Vikings in 2009.
Johnny Damon: Leaves the Boston Red Sox to join the New York Yankees. Nothing more needs to be said. See also Boggs, Wade and Clemens, Roger (via the Blue Jays).
Ashley Cole: Talks to Chelsea whilst under contract at Arsenal. Fined for talking behind his club's back. Claims that he swerved off the road when Arsenal "only" offered him £55,000 a week.
Terrell Owens: Falls out with Donovan McNabb at the Philadelphia Eagles, then leaves to join the Dallas Cowboys, where he previously stomped on their Star for two different teams.
Sol Campbell: Leaves Tottenham Hotspur on a free contract to join their hated rivals Arsenal. Was still hated by Spurs four years after leaving Arsenal... and then he rejoined Arsenal in early 2010.
Luis Figo: Leaves Barcelona to join their blood rivals Real Madrid. Has a pig's head thrown at him in his first game back in Barcelona.
Anyone got other traitors?

Other: Shoeless Joe Jackson. Unlike other players, who just demanded trades or left for other teams, he was part of a plan to lose the World Series on purpose for cash. Every other player pales in comparison to those actions.

Ashley Cole, poor little lamb couldn't live on just £55,000 a week.
I think Figo might have a bit of an excuse though.

Every other player pales in comparison to those actions. Except he was innocent. He's still banned for it and, from what I saw, his innocence hasn't ever been confirmed. But if you wish, you can replace it with any of the other players involved in the scandal and I'd still maintain they're worse than anyone on this list.

That Ashley Cole sounds like a d***, I'd say either him or Jay Cutler.
You got a guy in Cutler who was babied by Shanahan when he was QB, leading him to believe for whatever reason that the QB job was his forever more. McDaniels comes in, hears that we might, MIGHT, be interested in acquiring Matt Cassel, gets pissed off and demands a trade. The douchebag wouldn't even return the owner's calls, so to me he is a traitor to the Broncos, the only thing that could really stick the knife in is if he was traded to another AFCW team.

Begins and ends with O.J. Simpson! What did he do in sport that was traitorous? I don't really know much about his sports career.

That Ashley Cole sounds like a d***. He definitely is, and not just in sport. He cheated on his wife Cheryl Cole, who is currently the World's Sexiest Woman according to FHM, several times over, and he doesn't have any remorse over it whatsoever. He's recently said he hates England too.

He's still banned for it and, from what I saw, his innocence hasn't ever been confirmed. But if you wish, you can replace it with any of the other players involved in the scandal and I'd still maintain they're worse than anyone on this list. According to the book The Baseball Hall of Shame, all eight Black Sox were found not guilty of conspiracy charges, but Commissioner Landis still banned all eight. In fact, Landis hypocritically allowed pitcher Rube Benton to play for Cincinnati despite his admission in testimony that he made $3,200 betting on the Reds to win that Series. Another player, Hal Chase(who had a history of gambling accusations), escaped untouched by Landis, despite being mentioned as a major link between the players and gamblers. Edit: From the same book, White Sox owner Charles Comiskey's poor treatment of the players and being a Donald Sterling(cheating pitcher Eddie Cicotte of a $5,000 bonus in 1919 if the pitcher won 30 games; when Cicotte got to 29 wins, he was benched; in fact, semi-pro players were making more than White Sox players at the time) pretty much led to the Black Sox scandal.

I say this as a life long Packers fan: I don't understand why people are pissed at Favre. Ted Thompson and the office made it clear they wanted Aaron Rodgers as their starter. If you don't feel the guy is good enough to be your starting QB, why should you care where he plays next season? The guy felt he had something left, he wasn't going to continue as a starter in Green Bay, so he moved on. If I blame anyone in this situation, I blame the office.

The biggest turncoat in hockey was probably Marian Hossa - leaving the Penguins to join the Red Wings, who just beat them for the Stanley Cup. The Penguins got their revenge the following year by beating the Red Wings, so Hossa leaves again in free agency to join the Blackhawks, where he finally wins the Cup at the third time of asking.

I don't think Lebron is a traitor -- the Cavs owner is closest to that, as he openly talked smack about Lebron right after the announcement, virtually hurting any chances of any free agents coming to his team in the future.

Bary Bonds and the steroid brigade. they didn't undermine a team, they undermined the entire sport.

I don't think Lebron is a traitor He's not a traitor for leaving the Cavs, but he's a sleaze for the way he did - on a primetime televised dog and pony show, without so much as courtesy phone call to the Cavs to let them know of his decision ahead of time. I think Gilbert is resigned to making himself look like a moron outside Cleveland for the sake of rallying the hysterical fanbase. He needs to cover his own ass at this point. But I don't buy that what he said about LeBron was in any way traitorous or disloyal, the way LeBron left blew any goodwill he was owed. He didn't treat the Cavs and the city of Cleveland with respect and now he can't expect any from them in return. Not that he cares.

Not even the biggest fan of Baseball and I think Johnny Damon was huge turncoat. I think Damon would be a much bigger deal if he had done it BEFORE the Red Sox finally beat the Yankees and won a title rather than after.
