I'm going to take a hiatus from my diet this weekend and am thinking of trying Dairy Queen, as the burgers in my area are all lackluster. I've never had DQ, so I'm anxious to have a Blizzard and some burgers, and I was wondering which I should try.
Any ideas?

They've got a burger with Tabasco mayo that is pretty sweet. The Flamethrower.

I think with many fast food places the quality of the food depends on the management. That being said I tried the DQ closest to me a few months ago and it may have been one of the worst burgers I've ever eaten. A burger so bad it made me wish I had ate at Arby's.
Mind you this is coming from a man who loves Hardee's (Carl Jr. for the northerns) thickburgers and places like Five Guys.

They're solid for a fast food burger. Don't expect anything amazing.

Those are the best damn fast food burgers I've ever had.

Do you lump Burger King and Wendy's in with McDonald's? I'm not crazy about Wendy's, but I use to eat BK's burgers (before Five Guys and Hardee's ruined me to other restuarants burgers).
Also does it have to be drive thru? I've enjoy burgers from Applebee's, Chili's, and Lone Star Steakhouse as well.

Applebees isn't bad, but whenever I bring their food home, it's all wilted lol. I may just do that, though.

It's a race to get home while the food is still warm.

If you value your circulatory and cardiovascular systems, you'll rethink this idea.

Dairy Queens burgers are fine if you don't mind the fact it's cooked to shit way before you order it, slathered with ketchup and mustard to disguise that fact and then they heat the whole deal up, bun and all when you order it.
They taste fine, it's just not fresh. I get it quite often since you can get like 3 cheeseburgers and fries for $6. Good deal to me.

I honestly only had one DQ burger in my life. It was good, but really the ONLY reason to go to DQ is for their ice cream.
Makes me sad that the only places in Oklahoma with DQs any more are the rural towns/cities like Anadarko. It's ok if you don't know about that town, not many people in the state do, either.
My next best option is heading down to Texas, cause right inside the Texas border on the way towards Gainesville, TX is at least 2 DQs.

Five Guys is frigging amazing. And as far as I know it's the only place in Mass. where one can get Mr. Pibb. To be honest, I've never had a DQ burger. The one closest to me only does Ice Cream and is only open from April-October.

I've only had a few Dairy Queen burgers in my life, but I remember liking them. Then again, I'm not too picky about my hamburgers.

They are good for fast food burgers, but I usually get the Dude, which is a chicken fried steak burger.

I happen to be quite picky about my burgers, so I'm not sure I'd try one. In fact, I generally avoid fast food burgers. Occasionally, I'll break down and hit up Wendy's for convenience, but a burger that sits sandbagged under a heat lamp doesn't sound all that appetizing.
You'd be better off going and buying a pound of 80/20 ground chuck, pattying it yourself and throwing on a grill or a cast iron pan. Then you know what you're getting, know it was fresh, and get to enjoy it more since you put the time and effort into it.
