A Day In The Life off of Sgt. Pepper's. Great song? Sure! Best song the Beatles have ever done? No. What are some other examples?

Sloop John B on Pet Sounds. Good song, not the best though.
Hell, it may be the worst on that album.

Come Together on Abbey Road.
It's Lennon trying to be cool for the sake of it.

Just the Way You Are off The Stranger. Even Billy himself hates that song!

"Stairway To Heaven" - Led Zeppelin IV.
Yeah it's a good song. It's epic. Is it their best? Far from it.

smells like teen spirit by Nirvana, its definately not the best song on that album, come as you are, in bloom, and something in the way are much much better tracks, even Kurt got tired of smells like teen spirit.

"Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria. It's an amazing song and I love the hell out of it, but it's not the best song on From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, but it's pretty much the only song anyone knows.

^^^
I think that's because it was in Rock Band.
Personally, Ten Speed and The Suffering are my favs, but the whole album is awesome.
As for another, Enter Sandman is a halfway decent song on an awesome album, but nowhere near the epic level of awesomeness it's widely perceived as.

"Stairway To Heaven" - Led Zeppelin IV. Yeah it's a good song. It's epic. Is it their best? Far from it. Robert Plant has said he'd do anything to never hear that song again. "With or Without You" off of The Joshua Tree and "One" off of Achtung Baby. For lesser-known bands, "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" off of Soul Coughing's Irresistible Bliss and El Oso, respectively.

Yeah, that and it's been used in a couple of trailers here and there.

For lesser-known bands, "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" off of Soul Coughing's Irresistible Bliss and El Oso, respectively. For my money, the best song on Irresistible Bliss is "Lazybones" and the best on El Oso is "I Miss the Girl" or "Saint Louise is Listening."

Enter Sandman, from Metallica's self titled. It gets the most radio airplay of any Metallica song ever and isn't anywhere near their best. From the same album, I'd say that "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", and "My Friend of Misery" are all better.

"Closer" from Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral. "March of the Pigs", "Heresy", and "Reptile" are better songs IMO.

But of course, "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" are their two most popular songs for some reason.
