It looks like it could be entertaining, but they're overdoing it with the commercials.
I think the problem may be that aside from maybe Lawrence Fishburne, none of the humans in the movie really seem like major badasses, and they're supposed to be "Earth's most lethal killers" or whatever. I mean, Adrian Brody became famous playing a pianist and I don't even recognize anybody but those two.
Now if they had somehow been able to combine this movie with The Expendables...

Danny Trejo, a character actor famous for almost playing nothing but badass Mexican/Latin American characters is in the film as well. So that is 2 certified badasses, and a Jewish pianist. Plus the token chick, African American, and Asian characters.

He shows up a few times in the Spanish commercials for the movie.

On a related subject, the plot is similar to an abandoned draft for Predator 2 which had Arnie kidnapped and taken to a kind of Predator arena.

I think I'm gonna see it this weekend for my birthday. Looking forward to it. Seriously, it's Morpheus, Danny Trejo and other stereotypes being hunted down by Predators. What's not to love?

Sometimes it's better to just leave a good thing alone. Egads.

Watched it at a press screen last week. Thoughts? I'm legit interested in seeing this movie. You should go see it. Without giving any spoilers away, I can say that the film is a vast improvement over both the AVP films and easily the is the best thing to happen to the predator franchise in a long time.

Not seen the original (I know, I know...)
But this looks fun. Unfortunately I'm super behind on movies and this will be behind Toy Story 3 and eventually Inception on the list of priorities. Looks cool and the early reviews are actually pretty good.

Just got back from it. And, well, if you are a Predator fan, you MUST see this. It isn't as good as the first two films(hey, I love the shit out of Predator 2), but it is WAY better than the AVP films. I do have a few gripes, though: {Spoiler} 1) The entire cast are token characters, as such none of them have a chance to be really developed, and the movie follows every action-horror cliche to the T, including the once you show a picture of your kids, you are doomed to die cliche.
2) They TOTALLY misused Danny Trejo. Killing him off first?! AND off screen?! Bullcrap! He totally should've died in a blaze of glory.
3) They borrow way too many things from the first film, including:
- A jungle setting. - Someone has a big ass gatling gun no one would be able to hold. - The badass silent warrior have a duel of blades with a Predator whilst shirtless.(it is implied that Billy dies dueling the Predator in the first film, if he was shot by the blaster, he wouldn't be able to scream). - Covering oneself in mud to hide in plain sight of the Predator. - Using the same song the Sexual Tyrannosaurus loved as the main credits song.
4) They pull one of the things I absolutely HATE! In the trailers and commercials, Laurence Fishburne is shown many times, and even is one of the top billings for the film, but he's in it for about 15 minutes and proceeds to get blown to hell and back by a Predator.
5) I hate how they edited the clip of Adrian Brody having the aiming reticule of the Predator's blaster on him in the trailers and commercials to make it seem like there were dozens of Predators. I expected dozens of Predators, and got 4 total, 3 bad and 1 kinda good. I also don't like how the Predators seem to be at civil war with each other. Those gripes aside, and #3 isn't much of a gripe, as it is more a tribute, when I think about it. And really they are just minor gripes, the movie is really good. Lots of blood and guts and spines abound.

Looks cool and the early reviews are actually pretty good. I suggest you get on watching that first one immediately because you have it all. * Strong and Agile Alien Hunter * Arnold Schwarzenegger * Carl Weathers (aka Apollo Creed) * Jesse "The Body" Ventura * Explosions * Gore * Bill Duke (while he is now a director, he still looks like he could kick your ass) * Sonny Landham * Super Machismo Attitudes If you are fan of action movies and horror movies, this is the perfect movie for you.
