I was at Office Depot yesterday and I saw a Nextar brand GPS w/ a 3.5" screen for 59.99 and one with a 4.5" for 79.99. My question is even though I have never heard of this brand is it a good one. I have been really wanting a GPS for a long time, and now I find one that is affordable to me. Should I buy the Nextar GPS or should I go with a more know name such as Garmin or Tom-Tom?

I only have experience with Tom Tom and it worked fantastically when I was doing ride alongs with a trucker buddy. John Cleese has a voice pack for it. It's awesome.

I find that mine is ok if you put in addresses...but you can't search for anything built in the last fifteen years. And we bought it 4 months ago.

Garmin Nuvi's are fantastic. I know you can get some good ones for pretty cheap now.

I have a Sony and it's a Godsend to someone like me who gets lost using things like Mapquest easily. Just make sure it has the voice option and you'll be fine.
I paid something like $80.00 for mine last year and it came with the voice, route estimation and can even detect which roads are closed etc + gives you the next viable route should I miss an exit. Anyways...as long as it has the voice option...I'd say get it. If it has nothing else but that...buy it. You don't want to have to look at the damn thing every 5 seconds when trying to drive.

Avoid the Garmin Streetpilot.
Honestly I prefer the Sprint Navigation service on my Blackberry over any GPS I've ever used. I'm sure Android's variant of it is just as good.
