Since we frequent this board, and some of us go to live shows on occasion, do you consider yourself a member of the WWE Universe ? Do you find the moniker corny ? It is like, how often to you speak to someone and say,"yeah, I am huge wrestling fan" or would you say "I am a member of the WWE Universe."
At the same time, I grew up in New Orleans, and a moniker has worked for the Saints fans. If you aren't familiar, the Saints fans are now known as the Who Dat Nation.

I hate it. It sounds WAY too hokey. I especially hate it when the commentators can't go one sentence without saying it, mostly Michael Cole.
*after Cena gets hit hard in the stomache*
"Orton knocking the wind out of Cena, out of the WWE Universe!"
...or...
*after Cena FU's Edge into the front row*
"Edge being thrown into the audience, into the WWE Universe!"
Please, just shut the f*** up already.

Hell no. I hate the phrase "WWE Universe". I especially hate it when they bring back a past superstar (Bret Hart, for example) and have them say it. I was relieved that Steve Austin didn't say it because that would have been cringe-worthy.

Well I do have an account on it, but I only posted like 20 times, and haven't been on it for a good year now I think.

I died a little inside when Bret said it, but I was SO glad Austin wasn't subjected to saying it. Can you imagine? Austin: WWE Universe, if you want me to wipe that stupid look off of Vince McMahon's face, gimme a "Hell yeah"!

I hate it.
It adds nothing.
I am a WRESTLING FAN. Not a "member" of the "WWE Universe". There is other wrestling out there besides WWE.

I don't like it. It's forced, lame, and sounds like a comic book term.

WHY GET LOST IN A UNIVERSE, WHEN YOU CAN BE PART OF A NATION?
Even TNA is cashing in on that lameass Universe crap. I have an Edge poster from a 2008 magazine that says "Altering the WWE Universe since 1998," and I thought hey that's pretty cool. At the time I had no idea WTF it meant.
Then the term WWE Universe became an overused term to describe the fanbase and it got real old, real fast.

Just like the IWC thing if you watch/participate in WWE events and are a fan you are a part of the Universe that encompasses the WWE. Just another way for the WWE to brand itself.
As for being a part of it...yes i am. But i'm also an overlord of a section of it so I'm in a comfy position.

I hate the phrase. I'm not part of some mindless, collective group that enjoys and approves of everything that the WWE puts out. I like entertaining wrestling, and if the WWE puts out garbage from time to time, I'm gonna call it as I see it.

I don't mind it when they call the fans the WWE Universe. Like for instance, when they say "Can you tell the WWE Universe........." or so. But when they say "Snoop Dogg is a huge member of the WWE Universe!"
THATS when it gets annoying.

It's basically pandering to the kids who buy Cena wristbands and such, having their own WWE Universe profile is their Facebook.

I have no problem with it.
I also don't care about "sports entertainment", "superstars" or "divas".

I remember when this phrase first came out, there was an adjoining bit of NEWZ that said that Vince was going to rebrand WWE from Sports-Entertainment to Action Entertainment.
I didn't loathe the WWE Universe term as much as everybody else (though I did hate it), but if they'd gone through with calling it "Action Entertainment," that would have absolutely been the deal-breaker for me, as petty as that sounds. Simply because it was nauseating enough having to listen to Cole and every other superstar shoehorn the "WWE Universe" term into every promo in a way that, much like the recent change to "The Royal Rumble Event" (lest short-witted fans...er...WWE Universe Members get the match confused with the PPV), seems designed to staunch the organic flow of good promos. But if I had to listen to Cole spout off how Raw was "the longest-running weekly, episodic program in Action Entertainment," I probably would have driven to Titan Towers and hurled the world's largest single brick through the front window in a magnum opus of overreaction.
I. AM. A. WRESTLING. FAN.
The best periods for WWE have usually been when Vince actually embraces the fact that he's a promoter, and not completely resenting that he runs a wrestling company and not an NFL franchise or a profitable movie studio. I wouldn't be the least surprised if he cries himself to sleep at night because nobody in the entertainment industry or politics takes him the least bit seriously. And how does he compensate? By programming the product in a manner intended to draw in casual fans. Like a spurned lover, Vince wants the people that don't want him, all while shunning the dependable, loyal people that do. Wrestlemania season has been great this year, but I'm wondering how steep off a drop-off we're going to see come next Monday.
You're a wrestling promoter, Vince. The sooner you admit it, the better off we'll all be.

Hate the term with a passion. Always makes me think of the Marvel Universe and DC Universe and that this is all one big comic book but then again WWE is so out there and childish now, maybe we are watching a comic book!?
I am a fan and will always be known as a fan!

I don't have a problem with it. It's like being a part of Red Sox Nation. We're not just fans, were members of a tight nit group who enjoy the same thing. It's another way for WWE to market themselves. I can't understand the hate for it. Is it really that big of a deal to you guys?

Someone compared it to the Who Dat Nation, and it would cool if it were comparable to those fanbases. I wouldn't mind calling myself part of the Who Dat Nation or Raider Nation or any other group of sports fans, but thats something created and run by the fans themselves. Its not something trademarked, and its not something the announcers have to mention in every single segment. The term "WWE Universe" is too forced, and I hate being put into a name brand like the "Superstars" and "Divas" and "Sports Entertainment".
Why can't I just be a fan who likes wrestling and women's wrestling?
