Does anybody remember the Raw from South Africa ? I believe it was either 1996 or 1997. It is known as one of the lowest rated Raws in history. They had taped a house show down there, and decided to air it as Raw. The production value was really crappy. I am surprised it hasn't been inducted yet.

I don't know if it's the same show, but there was a Raw in April of 97 that half the show was from some city in America and the other half from some foreign country and it was a huge clusterf***.

Yeah thats the one.
Results for that show
4/9/97; Johannesburg, South Africa
4/14/97:
Henry & Phinneas Godwinn defeated the Legion of Doom at 9:00 after Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith interfered and Bulldog hit Road Warrior Animal with his title belt (4/7/97; Muncie, IN; Worthen Arena)
Hunter Hearst Helmsley (w/ Chyna) pinned Jesse James at 14:52 with the Pedigree after the Honkytonk Man, who was doing commentary for the bout, tripped James; after the contest, Honky revealed that his new protege would be at In Your House the following Sunday; moments later, James challenged HTM to a fight then and there but Honky thought better of it
Savio Vega (w/ Crush and one other Nation member) pinned WWF IC Champion Rocky Maivia in a non-title match at 17:35 with a roll up and using the ropes for leverage after avoiding the shoulderbreaker; after the bout, Ahmed Johnson made the save against the Nation
Goldust defeated the Sultan (w/ the Iron Sheik) via disqualification at 13:00 when Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna interfered and, with the Sultan, triple teamed Goldust
Vader & Mankind defeated the Headbangers via disqualification at 5:45 when Mosh sprayed a substance into Mankind's eyes, blinding him to the point where he mistakingly applied the Mandible Claw on his tag team partner (4/7/97; Muncie, IN; Worthen Arena)
Ahmed Johnson pinned Crush at 11:30 with a roll up after Crush missed the heart punch; after the bout, Farooq challenged Ahmed to face both he, Savio, and Crush in one night and if Ahmed were victorious the Nation would disband

There was a RAW in Germany back in 1997. It featured what some consider to be a classic Bulldog/Owen finals tournament match to declare the first ever European Champion.
This was also the last RAW before it changed to RAW IS WAR.

It was after that show that Vince basically threw up his hands in disgust and handed the creative reigns over to Russo, telling him to write the shows the way he wrote for the magazine.

First of all, great sig. A fine homage to the greatest TV show of all time. Anyway, I remember this Raw as being one of the worst of all time. They went back and forth between the US and South Africa, and maybe one other location, and I remember a really horrendous match I could have sworn was between Jesse James and Goldust. But yeah, the production quality was TERRIBLE for that show.

I've got the In Your House PPV which follows said Raw. It was IYH 14: Revenge of the Taker.
On the PPV they show a few recap clips of the South African Raw before some matches like Savio vs Rocky for the IC Title and yeah, the production is awful. It looks like it's been filmed on someone's own personal camera and the lighting is horrible in the arena. The crowd are in total darkness and there is a spotlight on the ring.
It looked awful!

I remember watching this, looking at how bad it was, and switching over to Nitro. Yet, I remember this episode of RAW more than I remember the Nitro episode the same night.

I believe I've seen worse (and also have it on tape somewhere) I don't think it aired in the U.S, from what I could gather USA and Canada got regular episodes of Raw. We, in the UK, got two weeks in a row of Kevin Kelly hosting highlights of the WWF's recent tour of Kuwait. It was dross, similar house show on film feel as the African Raw but it was taped in May and aired in August 1996. The whole thing was based around the Kuwaiti Cup tournament. Ahmed Johnson won. Anybody remember this?

I remember Ahmed won the Kuwaiti Cup, but didn't Tiger Ali win it the second year?

God, I didn't know they did a second year of it. I believe Vader got detained in May 1997 so it could have coincided with the second visit there.
