Just saw the photos on WWE.com, zero mention of the huge reaction he got. But I thought they would atleast post some photos of him celebrating with the crowd. There was one photo there that said "Even the homegrown talent get a TINY welcome in Dublin" or something along those lines. Literally cringed at that, I get Sheamus is heel, but implying that Cena got a great reaction and Sheamus got a tiny one, is absolutely ridiculous. I was in attendence and Cena got absolutely raped while the roof blew off for Sheamus, it wasn't "tiny" in the least.
Anybody hate how WWE cover up these sort of things just to protect Cena? I remember Cody Rhodes was getting a good ammount of chants and they dubed in "CENA, CENA!" chants. No wonder nobody can break out...

I think it mightve been worse in the 80's I don't think thats an excuse to do it now. It was the fans who turned Austin into the star he is, WWE prevent any possibility from that happening now because they don't want anybody to out-pop their top boy, Cena. This further more proves it.

The WWE, if anything, may have wanted to protect Sheamus' heel status. Emphasizing the love he received in Dublin would be pretty counter productive, especially since it was a house show- unlike the Unforgiven 2006 PPV where they had no choice but to gush about how much the Canadian crowd adored Edge.
Besides, it's really not that big a deal. Cena's mixed reactions have been part of the legacy of his character for a while.

If the crowd wants him to be a face, make him one.

If the crowd wants him to be a face, make him one. One positive reaction in a Superstar's home country does not a face make.

Maybe the WWE were upset that there were too many limes.

I just don't see the point in doing it, what harm would it do to mention Sheamus got a good reaction in his hometown? Bret Hart was a super heel and got a great reaction in Canada in 97. I think it's simple, WWE just love ass-f***ing Cena and don't want anybody to out-pop him. It's sad that they act like he's more over than he is and this is what I've been saying all along. If he was as over as he was, he wouldn't be booed and they wouldn't have to cover it up.

I remember the Regal chants during a match in 08 on RAW. He got by far the biggest chants and pop of the night, and because it was live (?) they had to acknowledge it.
This was a house show though so it can be covered up. A giant reaction in your home town is expected, but the WWE wants to make Sheamus into a big-time heel.
Just to add, I thought that my boy Sheamus had some pretty decent face mic skills. A video I saw proved to me that he could be a big face one day, and it helps that he actually looks like a face.

So I'm the only one who think the crowd should be allowed to voice their opinion and cheer who they like instead of getting stuff force-fed to us? I bet if this show was taped, WWE would replace the chants with "CENA, CENA!". I find it pretty pathetic... Sheamus has shown that he's proud of his celtic heritage on TV before, I don't think it's anything to do with him being heel. It's more about him out-popping Cena and them not allowing it.

Dude it's not like they told everyone in the audience to shut up and Play along (like they're cast members). They're just downplaying something that happened off tv. Had they actually intended to do a show on TV, they'd make damn sure to point out how much Sheamus would be loved and the audience.

Determine the face-pop for yourselves: Stay Classy Cena. I don't understand why he gave him the belt though.

Here's what I don't get: Sheamus doesn't get face pops anywhere other then his hometown so he shouldn't be face. Cena on the other hand gets Heel pops almost everywhere but he shouldn't be heel either. What? I don't get it. You say that "Cena getting booed is in the history of character." then why is his character a face!?!?!?!?!!?!?!

Determine the face-pop for yourselves: 2 things. 1) Really cool promo from Cena. Very classy. Sheamus has big potential if they make him a face IMO. He has a face look. 2) "KICK HIM THE HEAD!!" LMFAO.

Stay Classy Cena. I don't understand why he gave him the belt though. He did it so the nice people in the arena could take pictures of Sheamus with the strap. Add that video to the huge pile of videos and interviews that should be watched/read by Cena haters who bafflingly think Cena doesn't deserve his spot. 2) "KICK HIM THE HEAD!!" LMFAO. Yes, very classy on the part o' Dublin.

I remember the Regal chants during a match in 08 on RAW. He got by far the biggest chants and pop of the night, and because it was live (?) they had to acknowledge it. I was there at the show you're talking about. It wasn't live due to time differences, but Regal faced Santino for the IC title. Both were heel, Santino got a HUGE pop and the crowd were hanging on his every word in his promo including a massive SAN-TI-NO chant but he was smart to end his promo with 'I am afterall from the best country in the Europe.. ITALY!' Regal then came out to huge pop too, and won after about 10 seconds and cut a face promo. He was heel again the next week (when Santino rapped for Akon) but for that one week he was face as he faced another heel the fans just happened to like but to come back to the original point, it wasn't live but WWE decided not to edit those reaction (unlike others in the night).
